I've been watching those Cubes for a while now. I'll have to check my local store this afternoon s they were still $25.06 on Friday.

Same here.

At full price they were meh but if I can get them for 8.00 Id buy 1 or 2.

I own four of the 13" Milwaukee boxes, overall I like them but they have some shortcomings. They stack nicely but tend to tip over if stacked in the truck, their size and design prevents longer tools like framing hammers from fitting in them, and the lid system can be cumbersome in tight quarters since the handle has to be rotated to lock or unlock them.

Otherwise, I'm impressed. One is set up with plumbing tools, another has various tools including staple guns and boxes of T25 and T50 staples, and the other two aren't yet configured. They work well as a seat (I'm 71" tall) and stuff stays in place despite the occasional tipover. I paid $22.50 for the first one, and $17 for the other three. Funny thing is, only one Savannah area store cleared them out (at $19 each)...last I checked other stores still have them at the $25 or even $30 price point.

Im personally looking for something good to put my electrical stuff in. I currently have a 17" Craftsman toolbag that is overflowing between handtools and various other electrical stuff I use.

That Husky rolling bag on clearance seems great but I cant find one. The Milwaukee cube box might be OK but I think overall is less storage than I have now.

I don't understand the appeal of the Milwaukee Cube.

I don't understand the appeal of the Cube either. To me it looks like it would have a better purpose if you took the tool holders out of it, then filled it with ice and a six-pack or 2. There's much better options for a tool box. But even after saying that, for $8.03 the price is good for what you get. I wouldn't spend any more than that though.

I don't understand the appeal of the Milwaukee Cube. I use leftover 5 gallon buckets with screw-top or snap-top lids. All sorts of tools will fit in a mud bucket, they're water-tight and because they're free, the price is right. You have a cat, right? The plastic kitty litter tubs have water-tight snap-top lids on them, they have carrying handles, and they are free. Granted, you might take some ribbing on the job site from the guys who bought the Milwaukee Cubes, but free even beats the $0.01 deals. I get the impression that the overall tone of this thread is more about the thrill of buying things on the cheap than it is about finding cheap ways to get a job done. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

At $8.03 I'm not sure if I'd buy one. I've only been keeping tabs on them as they are one of the only clearance items at my local store that are on the .06/.03 clearance and aren't on the normal clearance shelves.

I made a run out to HD today to look for deals ... nothing. I waliked every aisle, not seeing any yellow tags and not seeing anything with .06 or .03 prices.

To be honest -- after reading 40+ pages of this thread I still don't understand how the HD deals work. Trying to figure this out, I read through most of this thread last night, but I never found what I was looking for. Maybe the answer is buried in one of the older threads.

I hate to ask dumb questions, especially when it annoys people who respond by saying to go read the thread. Well, I read 40+ pages last night and never found the right answer. Can someone explain how the HD deals work and how to use the in-store computers? Or maybe just point me to a link to the right posts to read?

Back to the Milwaukee cubes -- I was thinking that nothing screams "Steal Me! I have valuable tools inside me!" like a Milwaukee-branded cube. I'm thinking that a bad guy is far less likely to be on the look-out for a kitty litter container. As you might expect, my garage isn't a showplace because I'm trying not to atrract unwanted attention. I also carry $20,000 worth of camera gear in a diaper bag, because thieves like to steal bags that say "Nikon" on them, but they tend to look beyond a Winnie the Pooh shoulder bag that says, "diapers" on it.

First step is to go to the computer and access the "price check" app. Enter some keywords in the search bar like "husky" or "dremel" or "rotary tool". Once the results show up, click on the filter icon on the upper left hand side. Then click on clearance. It should show all the clearance items for that keyword.

Apparently there is no rhyme or reason to the price codes other than .06 means first mark down before item is no longer carried, and .03 is final. It had been suggested the six meant six weeks before next markdown, but I've waited 3 months for an item to drop and never saw it happen - still waiting.

Penny is after .03, but they are supposed to be taken off the shelves as soon as that happens and aren't supposed to be sold to the consumer.

Just a couple days ago, I got all exited because I found some insect lights with 4.03 stickers dated 11-2013. Still ring up at the $4.03 sticker price. 😡😡

I've tried 2 different computers on 3 different days and as soon as I go to filter, it says error finding server. But yet it can find individual SKU numbers. Doh!

And I like the computer back in lighting. Much more private.

They always have bandwidth problems. I find that if I can't get anything to load on one computer, I just try another and it works fine.

Nice haul those two Hitachi nailers go got 229 each on Amazon they can pay for your total, the rest will be profit. I got to get back in the game.

On a good note I was entering evidence into my property room and spoke to the girl who runs it. She told me she's working at a local Home Depot part time. She's been there less then a year. According to her they take mailer coupons from Lowe's, only Lowe's and that the penny deals are supposed to be free if you find them. She says they are also allowed to give you 10% off of stuff for "quote" "customer satisfaction" but it cant go over 50 dollars, if it does they need a manager. She says the employees are not allowed to buy penny stuff, but that sometimes they do, she has gotten batteries for a penny, and another cashier purchased a vacuum and some potato chips, paying for the chips and getting the vacuum for a penny.

Lol just got a price match on a bostitch finish nailer at another store. Told him I got it for $28 at another store, and he said "we'll give it to you for $21". Wow...

I revived Stuey's thread about the Ridgid tool box combo--$98 for all three (with the $29 organizer being free). That seems like a hot deal of sorts. An employee saw me with them in the cart and told me she was surprised they offered that deal. She also said she was shocked that Ridgid made such a quality product. I haven't heard many complaints about anything they make, but maybe the employee had seen lesser Ridgid storage solutions before.

Probably bought by a someone looking to outfit a crew, or as replacements. Some of the deals in this thread are amazing, but this and the Lowe's thread both seem to have turned into reseller heaven. Compare the 2014 threads to the 2015--I seem to recall most posts were made by GJ'ers who were looking for tools to use themselves or giveaway as gifts...definitely no one boasting of maximizing profit or running borderline scams to save another $20 on something already bought at 90% off.

The stores mark the stuff down, so I don't blame people for trying to make a little money. I'm just saying that not everyone is looking to buy a $200 tool for $20. If I made money using tools and needed to replace them regularly or provide them to a work crew or company, I'd gladly buy every one available as soon as they were marked down 25% or more. Since I wait for really good deals on stuff I won't need for another six years, I've lost more than my share of clearance items. It ***** to wait months for a price to drop only to have someone else buy it first.

I couldn't find the other 2 hitachi roofing nailers. They still have 3 more of the bostitch metal connector nailers. That was all from Biddeford, Maine.

Those Strapshot nailers are really nice for the metal connectors. I've been using the MCN250 the past few weeks for a shed foundation project. So much easier for joist hangers (the short nails).

Clearance inventories are off quite often. Sometimes it takes a real scavenger hunt to find them.

Check the normal shelf where they get stocked, all of the clearance sections, up high in the rafters. Also, sometimes they pull clearance and set it on a cart or something around the pro area.

Also, the other store may not have the items marked down yet.

I noticed that some of the clearance stuff at my store stopped showing up at clearance at my store in the Price Check app. Some things that were .04 and .06 levels weren't showing up yellow, and weren't showing up when I filtered for clearance. One example is the HDX 8pc pliers set. It was 5.04 but didn't show up when I filtered for clearance.

This could be bad news.

Were you still able to find those items on the shelves even though they do not show up on the price check app?

It's possible those items dropped to a penny. Most penny items do not show up on the price check app.

They had plenty of them. Price check app said they were 5.04 but no clearance status. They were on clearance status a few days ago.

Unless they just pulled it off of clearance...
