Found one of the Husky rolling toolbags, down to a penny now.

Someone had torn most of the product advertising/SKU cardboard off it, luckily I found it so it would scan.

Only problem is it didnt have the free bonus bag...I debated asking for it, but didnt want to risk my penny :)

Has anyone used the NewAge roll floor? Does it hold up to heavy tools on casters? Does the diamond pattern make it hard to move lighter objects with small casters?

Thanks,
Steve

I was wondering the same thing, along with how does one secure it to the floor? What about sealing the seams to keep water and **** from getting under the layers of material?

I was going to a couple for the assembly area at my shot but Its only 2mm thick. Better than nothing but not a decent cushion if some semi fragile falls off bench. I bet chairs would roll fine on it though

I got a reply on the general garage discussion forum and I read the Costco comments. The material will move around quite a bit. The manufacturer's web site says to just unroll it without taping or gluing it down. The negative comments state the material curls up on the edges, moves around, and stains with rubber tires. Guess I'll look for something else.

Just found a bunch of penny items at an HD I had never been to. I got stopped at sco. I complained to store management. They gave it all to me for free after I informed them of corp policy that they are required to sell to me for the scanned price.

My Gosh! I see about 3 things in that photo alone that I want/need. So lucky. Here we have barely anything at our stores that go more than 20% discount. Anything that is 50% is usually where the final price is still $600 or so :/

That's the first time I have ever been stopped at the self checkout. This happened at a HD location I had never been to before, so I guess every location is different on how they deal with penny item scans. At my closest HD which I go to every week, they have never ever stopped me. I even scanned 50+ penny items one time, and the attendant even saw me and said "have a nice day".

Also, this was the first time I have seen a clearance table all the way in the back of the tool dept. Most of the items were not tagged whatsoever, but weird that the drill/drive bit set had "penny item" written on it. I figure that the employee who wrote that should also know to remove it from the shelf in the first place...

wow....that's crazy,,,too good to be true....How can they put all the penny deals on one table and the low price tag is clearly so visible...Question remains why the employees didn;t grab them...

Great job landing that... I have never seen a ridgid or Milwaukee penny or low clearance price around here....

If you are in the Phoenix area, there might be employees or some other inside connection getting all the deals. I know there are a few ebay sellers from that area who always seem to have tons of items that are stocked by HD.

Forgot to mention, the yellow handle Stanley rake and shovel are down to $2.52 each. I can't find anymore though, they sold out quick when they were $5.04.

Howdy folks!
So I guess I'm an idiot but I still don't get how this penny thing works :)

I've gone back about 5 pages. I saw something about a "price check" app so I went to the pro desk to check their computer and it only had the regular website up. What am I missing (besides common sense,ha)?

Also interested in these answers. Checked high/low for an HD price check app to no avail... :headscrat

Click the Start menu, then click "Store PC Menu" to start the "app" that has the Price Check icon on it.

I've been in MANY HD stores and never gotten a penny item. From Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Canada... The only penny item I got my hands on, the store had marked thru the UPC code and were giving them away as incentives for applying for a HD credit card.

Hey guys here's another tip to find penny items. Look for these carts filled with random items tucked away in corners. Usually they contain customer returns items which are still full price. But many times they contain "damaged" items where the actual product is mint, bit the packaging is damaged. You can get a good discount on those by simply asking the manager. Also, those carts sometimes contain penny items.

I cant believe these stores you find. Things are actually labelled as a penny item, and carts have signs on them?

You must be in some alternate universe. Here nothing is labelled (and surely not "penny item"). The cart trick is how I just picked up one of the weather radios for a penny, but it was just a cart full of stuff, not labelled (no, it wasnt a customers cart :) )

Its a windows PC, close or minimize whatever windows you see open and at the bottom left there should be a windows Start button (or the windows logo if its win7)

Sweet Baby Jesus....WHERE are you talkin' bout, Willis?? At the ProDesk? At the Home Depot website? On the HD app...? :headscrat

Pro Desk, appliance area, etc. Its a kiosk-looking thing with a regular desktop computer (keyboard, monitor, mouse, etc)

I never took a pic of one but it LOOKS like something only an employee could use, but if you wake up the screen saver or minimize any open windows, the store pc menu has a section for public use. The Price Check app is one of the icons for public use.

He's referring to the price check app on the in-store computers that you see at the pro-desk and other locations inside the store.

The mobile app and public HD website are virtually useless in finding clearance/penny items.

I am always on the lookout for these carts now. There are at different places depending on the store. One store I was at had three carts overflowing with stuff but they were behind the counter at customer service, and the associate said I could not search through them :(. But another store, the associate said "sure be my guest". Found lots of good stuff there.

I scanned a clearance item at self-checkout once and it came up at .05. The clerk manning the lane must've been watching on her master screen and swooped down, snatching it from me saying "can't sell this...must be mislabeled". I didn't know any better and gave it up.

How do y'all "stand your ground" in these situations?

Yesterday I was stopped at checkout for scanning multiple penny items. I complained to the manager and they finally gave all the stuff to me for free. If they stop you, tell them you spoke with corporate and the official policy is that they must sell it to you at the scanned price. It's not your fault that the employee forgot to take it off the shelf. It could be a law also depending on your state. I know in CA consumers are entitled to pay what the scanned price indicates.

Anyhow, it just depends on the store. Because at my closest store no one really cares about penny item scans.

Also, there are possibly two reasons why associates might be concerned about penny item scans:

1. I believe at some stores, the manager gets heat from corp if too many penny items get sold. That's why some managers will just rather give the consumer all the items for free instead of having the penny item sale recorded in their computers. I have not confirmed this yet though. Its just what I have gathered from reading around.

2. There have been lots of fraud going on where people are printing out little UPC bar codes and sticking them over the real bar code on the box. So the item scans at a much lower price. There was a guy doing that on Lego sets at Toys R Us and then re-selling on ebay. I think he was already over $25,000 in merchandise. He got busted so I am sure there have been corporate memos sent to managers to instruct their associates to be on the lookout for those incidents.
