I was able to get two "Freeman pneumatic 3in1 flooring nailers" at my local Depot for $48 + 6% tax -5% discount. If a fellow GJ member in Michigan would like one to use and can pick up in Milford, MI I would gladly pass along the deal for $50 even. PM me if interested.

That is on price app but not many around.

yeah - I was just amused that they dropped a 50 cent price by 6 cents. Actually found out about it at a store that had another 20 or so boxes in the rafters. Fairly rough looking boxes, but hey.. it's 44 cents. I was really looking for a second DS400 but struck out.

I've searched 5 stores over the past two days and couldn't find a single "awesome deal." The employees really seem to be on top of their game. I've searched computer after computer after computer. Nothing on clearance is in stock. ANYWHERE.

Relying on the computer is from amateurs

I searched top stock pretty thoroughly as well. I had the store employees pull down a few boxes as I wasn't sure what they were and they looked old and faded.

I guess it wasn't a compete loss. I found 10 bottles of air tool oil for $0.25 a bottle.

The next drop after .04 is .02, which like .03 is 75% off. .04 I believe is 25% off

So.......being that they have a 90 day window for returns.....ever held onto an item until they went down more and then returned? I know some people have bought and then returned at a different store so I guess it's the same thing.

Got lucky again tonight. Picked up 3 nailers that were listed as 0 in stock. Also, the store manager was super busy...I offered to buy the old dni plastic cases from the bostitch nailers they returned to corporate...he said no....take them for free. I asked if that meant the two I was holding...nah. it means the 12 on the racks....free.

Is this one of the nailers everyone is talking about? What are the others?

Picked this up this evening for $29 something. Tried to get 2 trailer light kits for a penny each at the self checkouts. They froze, and the head cashier wouldn't allow it.
Was supposed to be 4, but this is the only one I could find. Clerk said he had none until I asked him to pull it down.

I passed on a chance to do exactly that. My local HDs have gone through a complete empty and purge of the rafters, and repopulated them with all new stock. The leftovers have been purged and the only remnants of what used to be up there are the DNI boxes that were left behind when inventory was RTV'd and the SKU were purged. Empty boxen have no value to the store, ultimately they'll get tossed. Since I didn't get any caseless nailers, the cases meant nothing to me. To me they'd take up valuable space that I'd rather use for something better, so I left them alone. YMMV.

Bill, that's one of the less expensive nailers for finish work or trimming. $29.03 is a great price. The more expensive ones are the ones that most people are after -- the framing nailers and the roofing nailers which appeal to the contractor types. Most of those seem to have sold out already, and those that didn't sell out have already been RTV'd... in my area, anyway. Some people still seem to be finding the roofing and framing nailers, but if the only thing you're finding is the finishing nailers at .03 pricing, then I think your stores are pretty far along in the clearance process. In my area, the purge of the rafters and elimination of SKU that had been on clearance came right after that nailer got marked down to .03 status. There's been a big dry-up of clearance items around here following the rafter cleanout.

I just want to say thanks guys .... I have read all the pages and thats a lot of pages ....however, your shared information made me look like I knew what I was doing when I walked in HD and got on the computer like I owned the thing.

I was told the Dewalt boxes were gone and the inventory count was just wrong - but thanks to you guys I knew to keep looking. I finally found them in the rafters and the guy didn't believe me until he pulled down the boxes!! Score!! 2 - ds400 and 2 ds150!!! When I checked out the cashier that was working by the comp that I was on just laughed and told me she thought I worked there. Didn't have time to search for the tools I was wanting so maybe tomorrow.

Again, thanks for all the sharing. I will try to contribute when I have something worthy :)

Worth a try holding them, but don't lose track of the 90 days. Those nailers aren't on clearance in my area (don't even carry the Makita) so I don't know when they started and how long til the next price drop.

Home depot picked up the new line of DeWalt nailers. There doesn't look to be much of a difference between them and their Bostitch cousins.

They sell well on CL. The accessories that are still in them are worth every free penny.
The best part is I bought the nailers from a store up north with no boxes, then got the boxes for free in my store, so I can sell them for more online, now!

Are they switching nailer brands or new models, or what sparked the huge selloff of nailers and nails?

Here's my rule of thumb in the nailer aisle; most stores have dropped Bostitch and Hitachi. Look in the rafters. My store is only carrying 1 Bostitch nailer now. If you see ANY box marked Bostitch, get the SKU off of it, and check the computer. That's what I've been doing, and it's been quite successful as of late.

I'm learning as I go. I was at 4 stores this weekend and didn't take my own advice on the nailers....I was a little overwhelmed at the time, and didn't score a whole lot. Now I'm itching to go back even though it's a 2 hour drive to do so.

I DID get a crapload of the 2 packs of WD40 for 2 bucks per 2 pack. I was nice and left some for others. But I did take an entire cart full of these Ryobis....

Been trying to find one of those F28WW for a shed build. They're the one nailer that's survived the SKU purge in my area and is still in the system. But I've had an associate search all of the rafters and there aren't any botstitch boxes anywhere. Like someone else mentioned everything that used to be Bostitch is DeWalt now.

same here. still have that framer and the pneumatic flooring nailer at full price here.

Yea I've been to two stores now that are no joke, they are super clean. When I asked one store manager if they would price match the main Dade county store. He said no and laughed, he said that store was a mess. And its true the store is a mess but they have alot of clearance stuff for sale, so I hit it every week. The clean and organized stores don't have much on clearance.

Good idea.. I do have a Bostitch finish stapler and brad nailer without cases (display models). I'll try to find the cases in the stores. No big loss if I don't, since I'm selling those 2 anyway. I have the complete kits that I'm keeping. Almost all of my power tools have a case.

My store is showing the upper Milwaukee (41"? 46"? - whatever the big ones are) on "clearance" at $299, which I think was regular price? But I wonder if some stores are already ditching the big Milwaukee boxes.

Someone else mentioned a few days ago that it was a supply/demand issue. Milwaukee sold wayyy more than they were anticipating and pulled the product temporarily to build up supply instead of having countless backorders/out of stock issues. Maybe they stopped production temporarily to allow for changes to the line that increase production?

I've been talking about that for a while. It seems as if corporate has been hitting stores hard that have gotten reputations for being messy, having cluttered aisles, being hard to find merchandise, etc. Some of the worst ones have been magically transformed, and after the reorganization & cleanup all the deals are gone. It seems like they let the stores do their own thing until they get so bad that a team comes into clean them up. After the cleanup the deals are gone. They must just RTV everything that's NOS, instantly getting rid of everything that's in the way of the cleanup.

Around here I was used to seeing stores that look like hell but had clearance deals. Each one suddenly got overstaffed for a week with a lot of inventory shakeup, and the next week they were clean and well organized and all of the deals were gone. It seems as if a cleanup crew is bouncing from store to store giving them makeovers.

To those asking about the nailers, I have one of each right now, including the one that was just pictured.

To those with bare tools, I'm keeping a few for myself and I'm **** about my tools. I have to have the case or I will sell the tool. I'm weird like that.
