Why the heck are you guys getting offended if someone says you are wasting time trying to find deals only to buy a lot to resale on ebay or that you don't make enough to make it worth while, Who cares? If you are happy then do whatever.
I'm not offended. I just have no reservations about calling out hypocrisy when I see it. I don't like to see double standards gaining a foothold.

I personally haven't even had the change to buy large amounts. I have some Dewalt DS150 and 400s, two Dewalt recip saws, a case of aa batteries, and three framing nailers. None of which I will sell on ebay. I let my family and friends buy whatever I don't want for what I paid and they love it (more than just HD deals too).
I am a dedicated hunter. I hunt for the sport of it, and I take a balls to the wall approach. But I am not a reseller. I buy only what I need, or what I plan to give away at cost to family members or neighbors. I have left many an item behind in the stores so that there would be a deal for the next guy -- like when I found 7 of the Hitachi NV45AB2 roofing nailers, took one, and left 6 behind for other people. If I were a reseller I'd have bought them all, but I didn't. That was foolish on my part -- I was being too much of a nice guy. I should have bought them for trading.

If I end up having something that nobody wants, then I'm forced into selling it on ebay or CL or trading it here. Personally I'd rather trade it here because I find ebay to be a PITA. I don't want to ever deal with the CL crowd, which is nothing but 60-cent cheapskates who don't value anyone's time but their own. I view selling on CL as a last resort. I hate it. I'd rather throw a tool in the garbage than give it away to someone who expects me to buy their lunch.

Seriously though, every time a member posts one comment about a large purchase someone makes on here they get blasted to the point they don't want to comment on anything.
There's a reason that some people aren't posting here any more. I didn't say a word about it, but this week I cornered the market on the Milwaukee toolchests that were clearanced in Chicago. Not one left in 50 stores. Not one will get resold. I was in dire need of a tool storage solution and I'll be using every one of them.

Here's a hint for everyone. Anything Hitachi is on clearance. Most of the nails/staples are 44 cents or a penny now. There's only a few small boxes of nails and staples that are around $9, at the 4 clearance stage. If you see anything Hitachi, anything at all, price check it at SCO.

That goes for nails, nailers, any power tools your store may carry (my store doesn't have any).

Would the Self Check Out give you a different price than an employee with a hand-held or on one of those Price Check stations throughout the store or the Price Check App on their computers?

At 3 Kansas City stores the Hitachi framing nails are still at $9 a box, the Paslode framing nailer, Dewalt boxes, and Milwaukee chest / cabinets are all full price.

First time I've stuck out in 3 stores, ever.

I did see this, though I didn't even check the price. Didn't they get rid of these earlier this year, or even the tail end of last year?

I think he may have mentioned a buy from full price store, return at clearance store and re-bought at clearance price. I don't think he did it a lot if at all. But I recall something like that.

This. I wasn't going to say anything but this has become the HD resellers thread

This thread had a good run but the posting individual deal threads argument might actually be an alternative to consider.

Absolutely. Happens all the time.

This week I found tools that were on .03 clearance in the price check kiosk, that ring up at full retail price at the register price check and register checkout. Store managers won't honor the price check kiosk price when that happens, and HD corporate won't lift a finger to help you.

I need just a box or two of nails.

I looked in 4 stores over the past month and nothing, I check the price check app and wrote down all skus even though they said 0 on hand and didn't see any.

I then wrote down some skus of griprite, bostitch on the shelve and checked and they were full price.

I can see how people find .44 and .50 nails if the computer says in stock but how are you guys finding nails on the shelve marked full price ringing up .50 there is no way to remember all those skus just looking at them in the store.

my phone has a camera.

Can 77ford explain how he did this

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk

You need to print off the pictures that other GJers where kind enough to post. Ask for a price correction and bingo...... It does not work every time....but I do not give up, I just move on to another store.

Nothing is for free. It take work and effort.....if you want something bad enough you will get it...or pay retail your choice.

Just trying to figure this out...
When you saw it up in the rafters, how did you know it was 1 cent? Had you seen it on the store computer? Did the computer say that there was 1 in stock somewhere?
Thanks

CD

Somebody else on here posted a while back that this model was on clearance, it did not show up in the stores price check app. I was looking for a husky 26 inch tool box when i stumbled upon this 56 inch model. I then asked a store associate to look the price up on his handheld and thats when it shows penny even though the he tried to hide ot from me.

In the rafters, in storage bins, bathroom vanities.....the list goes on. Knowing what the product is packaged in.

That is how I found (4) Tough Systems boxes.....[emoji13]
Hmm. I like power tools if they are a good deal. I buy a lot from cpo outlet.

New user and made my first venture to the HD looking for the computers tonight. The only two in my Charleston, SC store were near the pro-center and they had an orange desktop without any icons. When I clicked on the Windows icon it only had a store menu and no mention of anything public. Is this the norm or? All of the items I saw on here were listed at full price so no dice this time, i'm not deterred easily :)

In case that wasn't clear: Orange Screen --> Start Button > Store Menu > Price Check

It is not uncommon to read about deals here and find them not available in your area. The deals tend to vary from region to region, so you just have to be patient and keep looking. Probably best to keep going at least once or twice a week until things you've read about start showing up, then keep a mental note of how much lag there is between the time you hear about things and the time they start to show up in your area. In most cases I'd say it's a couple of weeks.

Thanks so much for all of the info! I will be a frequent visitor now. I was surprised at how many associates were there at 9:30 on a Saturday night. I couldn't turn a corner without being asked if I needed help. When do you find the best "dead" times are?

In my experience it's always when ever I'm going to pickup plywood. They run the other way.

They're prepping for inventory at a few stores by me. Everything is pristine. Makes it easy to search but I think associates have already pulled down all the clearance.

Anyone got one or two of the Milwaukee M18 grinders they'd be interested in selling? Been looking fr a while for a deal on these, but they seem to be really elusive. Really would like it for my welding bench.... those cords are beginning to be a pain in the you-know-what.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. The OP had stated he found the Store Menu. So I figured I'd keep it simple.

Are you finding the M18 grinders actually on-clearance at $30.03? And your problem is that they are not in supply?

I have exactly the opposite problem.

Around here they price check at 109.00 at almost every store and they are in abundant supply -- like 14 units per store. I've found 2 or 3 stores that have them in the pro desk price-check app at 30.03 but when you get to checkout, both the register price check and the register ring-up are at 109.00. i asked for help from the store manager and from corporate, and I got absolutely nowhere trying to get the computer price dispartiy problem resolved. as far as I'm concerned, there are no deals on the M18 grinders. i'd forget about them.

For those who got the DeWalt boxes, were they yellow tagged or white tagged when you found them marked down?

I think that is just part of it at the store I was at tonight . All of the overhead areas were straightened and neat. Couldn't find anything on the computer, so I go back to the tool area and I hear the associate telling a guy looking at a drill that corporate came and cleaned up and that they was told under no circumstances too let items penny out, the customer asked him what penny out meant and he started explaining , so who knows?

You need to go to the HD computer...........

You are on the "Hunt" or not......

The average "Joe" will not find these deals......

Not to be a jerk but you have to do your "Home Work" to find these deals!

PM and I would you as much as I can!

Several stores near me don't have the inventory, and the ones that do, have no deals.

I thought I had read here, that a couple guys found some at deals.

But in all honesty, there's getting to be so much bickering here about what people should, and shouldn't be doing, it's getting a little discouraging. I see it as pretty simple... if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything.

I think that too many people fail to understand that what you're describing is the rule and not the exception. Everyone wants to think that finding deals is easy. It isn't. It takes lots of time and lots of effort.

Stores with good prices and no inventory is the situation that I have to deal with every day. Stores that have deals don't have inventory and stores that have inventory don't have deals. And when you think you're lucky and find a deal like this one, it turns out to be a false positive -- the price-check at the pro desk says that it's on sale but the registers ring it up at full price:

It's not like there's low hanging fruit out there for any of us to just walk up and take. It takes a LOT of effort to find the deals, and I can tell you from experience that you have to put in a lot of effort to find any deals. more often than not any trip that I make is unsuccessful.

The funny thing about this thread is that everyone posts their success stories, but most of us don't talk at length about our failures. I don't talk about my failures because I don't want to bore everyone with the monotonous details about how I spend 12 hours in a car and come home empty handed. You don't want to read about that stuff, so it never gets posted. But on a day when I spend 12 hours in a car and come home with 6 penny sprayers, I'm stupid enough to brag about it. What's the result? Some ******* comes out of left field and accuses me of being a Slick Deals Creep just because I'm doing something that he can't do or won't do. In his mind, anyone who is not like him is a jerk.

Many people who are the best at finding deals will not discuss them in this thread any more -- primarily because we're tired of being verbally abused by a dog that can't hunt.
