If anyone gets a framing nailer cheap I'll buy it for a couple of bucks :)
I'm sure we'd all like a deal like that one.

But I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for someone to give it away. I don't see that happening. :dunno:

with that said, I have Bostitch F28WW available for trade, but not to sell "for a couple of bucks."

Noticed display welders as penny items the other day in the computer. Did anyone get any of these or are the all inoperable units?

I noticed this today too and was about to ask the same and head back and grab them if they are functional!

For a penny, just by them. If they are non-functional who cares? They're worth a penny for parts. I'll bet that someone here wouldn't buy them for a penny because they don't come with a factory warranty.

My store showed 7 on hands of the 8pk of pliers but the computer didn't have a home location and I am afraid they are gone.

I found this forum a week or two ago and wanted to chime in with some deals.

Last week I got two of the HD4 sprayers for $0.01 each. This was actually on my first trip hunting for these types of deals, so I figure that's dumb luck!

Today I just got back from the store and got these for $38.04. I found the safe for $38.03 in the computer and ended up having to wait a good 20 minutes for someone to be able to get the darn thing down with the forklift contraption. I'd been hunting for some other items I saw in the computer (with no luck) when I walked by a pile of what looked to be old display units sitting on the floor. Mixed in with them was this RIDGID twin blade circular saw with a $0.01 tag just facing right up! There was also some tape with a note about it being a return and needed to be green-tagged, but the yellow sticker was there in plain sight.

I picked the saw up and ended up having to have a chat with an MOD who was telling me that they couldn't sell anything for a penny. At first he tried to take it into the back to "Show it to the store manager" and I politely asked him to please leave it there until we'd sorted everything out. After a bit of back and forth he said that the store manager said they'd sell it to me for $10 to which I declined. I got on the phone to call customer support and he went over to a phone and I overheard him saying that I claimed to know corporate policy was to sell penny items that are found. Right after that he came over and told the SCO agent that they would do it this one time as an exception. HAH! He did take the yellow tag though "to show the store manager and figure out who was printing out penny tags"

Anywho, here they are:

Who is printing out penny tags? Those would be the store employees who are on price-change duty.

And what the tags says isn't relevant if the register recognizes it as a penny item. It's not like you can program their cash registers.

Congrats, Hunter Techy101!

That won't work lol. It's a display that is set up with the welders to show off the product. They won't sell display models until they clearance that model out. Besides, there is no UPC to scan on it.

And if you meant trying to get a new one and trying to get it to scan as the display model SKU for a penny, that's illegal, something along the line of willful concealment.

Anyway, point is that you can't get that SKU to ring up. A cashier would have to manually enter that SKU. There is no UPC bar code that you could scan to get that SKU in self checkout. It's just a dummy SKU so they can get the display model off of their inventory

The safe is the Sentry Safe OS0500 and is presently $250 at Office Depot/Max. This Home Depot had them for $38.03, so others might as well.

Thanks, coralnut had mentioned buying displays so I thought it might be possible for a second and I'm not interested in doing anything illegal!

You're a turd. I can never find even a clearance sprayer much less a penny one.

Curious...did you search "safe" on the store computer to find that. I have a list of words to search when I go in that is getting longer and longer.

I haven't tried the blank search yet. I just heard about it on a post today.

All those dewalt table and miter saws that say special buy in red on the box are on an end cap display in my store now, along with the 20v dewalt miter saw. I was content with my 18v dewalt nicad stuff until I saw that damn new saw. I have every 18v tool made I think except the cut out tool.

They usually do sell them eventually as I stated (assuming it's not a disabled unit), but it will be under the original SKU.

WHOA. STOP RIGHT THERE.

To make this clear -- I've never bought an active display item at a discounted price. What I bought was an old display version of an item that was already clearanced out. If you find an old display model of a discontinued item, that can be bought by full disclosure and negotiation with the store manager, which is exactly what I did. If the SKU is so old that it scrolls off of the system then you get to negotiate an agreed upon price and he can ring it up using a generic clearance sku. A display model of any current inventory item MUST be rung up at the current model's price. Trying to do anything else would be fraud.

Don't go pulling me into your attempts to cheat home depot through willful concealment. I have never talked about doing anything close to something like that.

Do they still have the lights did you see? I was able to get 1 in Somersworth tonight for that price, was on top shelf. Guy was like don't I have that on the floor... Proceeded to take it down and scan it.

They also had like 3 pallets of dewalt storage container packs 1001-275-801 that were supposed to be on floor on 6/11. Still on shelf but rang at full price. Didn't see any out and about.

They also have about 100+ pairs of leather work gloves 474-448 on the top shelf of glove aisle (none on shelf below)that the app has .53 clearance price on. Didn't have anyone price check them though.

Noticed all those nailers as well.

Came home with a list of stuff on top shelves I couldn't find in app or online.

When I was walking and jotting down skus, I got sidetracked and started missing the first 4 digits, so I think that's why I can't find a bunch of things. Ran out of time to go back and re-write them.

I noticed a few in Somersworth as well. Didn't look for any of them though as I don't really know what I would do with them.

Went to local HD tonight about an hour before close and noticed one of their employees(been in there so often - it's sad I recognized the guy) in street clothes having a plastic wrapped Husky 26 Drawer rung up at the register farthest from the managers office. The drawer still had the bright pink "Hold for sale for 6/11 event" tag on it.

I've walked the store and hadn't seen it.

Fighting a battle that's tough to win.

Also, any New York guys having any luck - my stores (about 4-5 local ones) either have stock of these items at full price or they are nowhere to be found at the clearance price. I stop in maybe 2x a week to a few different stores.

End rant.

Tonight I won my first battle with a manager.

The associate had it price up at $9 and so did the cashier. I took them over to the contractor computer to confirm my price. Then they called the manager who fought it tooth and nail until running out of excuses. I trumped all of her excuses with "your store computer says" and finally she folded and gave it to me.

I could have been mean and purchased all 11 but decided I didn't want to push my luck. My girlfriend was a big help tonight with this task. I'll be bringing the lady with me more often to get this done.

Still haven't got my first penny item though.

Sorry I named you, when you told someone to grab a display whether it works or not for 1 cent. Just was wondering how it worked and you seemed to be knowledgeable on buying displays from the way I read it. I will say that I WAS NOT ACCUSING YOU OR ATTEMPTING IN ANY WAY TO DO ANYTHING ILLEGAL. I respect you and your contribution to the thread, let the deals keep coming.
