So inventory dates are different at all locations obviously. I work for a major retailer and my inventory is in the fall, while the closest store to me is in the spring.

Yeah that one I was at on Monday was doing inventory when I was there. No wonder I had no luck! I wonder what they do with the discarded items.

I managed to snag a few small deals while inventory was going on.

I used to work for RGIS here. They are based out of Manchester, NH, and do inventory for all of the Walmarts, Home Depots, Macys, and other stores (Sears?).

It's just one big team that goes from store to store. Usually takes about 3 days to do a Walmart. Home Depots were always done on weekends. I couldn't tell you which store did it on which date. It's obviously that time of the year here, since the tags are hung.

One manager explained the $.06 $.03 thing to me. I let him explain all of to me and didn't let own that I already knew anything. He said they threw the stuff in a bin after the $.03 price and they couldn't sell it. I asked what happens to it. He said they ship it back to the distribution center and they deal with it.

Another manager said something about throwing stuff in a donation bin one time.

I didn't argue or let own that I knew anything. I just thanked them for explaining things to me. It never hurts to make friends.

Have only seen the tags so far, no people.

As far as the HD employees or RGIS employees for that matter pushing carts, should have two people, one to distract them into another aisle while the other paws through the cart. With that said though, Two HD employees were standing by a cart of yellow tag stuff talking the other night (just junk, a few mower belts which didn't fit my machine or I would have snagged them) and they didn't seem to care at all that I was looking and pawing through their cart.

Confirmed the bulbs I needed are priced with 00 and the employee confirmed that's as low as they will go and they will be trashed. I was shocked they didn't accept my offer of $100 for 6 boxes of bulbs and would rather throw them away. Tax write off?

Oh well, guess I'll go with the 30pk boxes.

When I worked at menards when something was returned that was opened or slightly damaged it was "defected out" which means it is removed from inventory. At least 1/2 of the stuff went straight to the dumpster and they refused to sell it.

I have worked in a building of a local non-profit that was FILLED with Home Depot product that they donated. Some of it was put to very good use, other stuff will end up in the trash. Who needs 1,000 6" peg board supports? Stuff like that.

What happens when the price check app shows a clearance item in stock at another store, but when you get to that store the item is full price?

Nothing. You can not see pricing from store to store.

You pay full price or talk your way into a price match.

Anybody tried the paslode f350p?

It says only out in the south right now. Then the west coast.

New 21 degree model they have.

I think I found a deal to post about these. Still checking...

I've heard really good things about them. I haven't owned one myself though.

Each store has there own prices. It's hard to find a store that has them in stock and at the sale price. In my area there are two sizes/styles of stores. I think of them as the small stores and the mega stores. They have different layouts and clearance at different times.

What a stupid question! A grill is too heavy to carry. I usually grab the self checkout machine and bring it to the grill. This way, i dont have to break my back carrying the heavy grill

Why are you being a ****? The man asked a legit question. Besides, how the f%@& are you going to scan that thing on the SCO?

DrWheels, I will note the sku down in my notes on my iPhone, find an associate on the other end of the store with a First Phone PDA, ask them to check stock on that sku. They will tell you the price as well. Then you can go grab your grill and try to check out.

You can also have one of the cashiers check the price with the SKU on their register terminal. If there's a large item that I think is going to ring up as a penny I'll go to one of the distant check-out areas such as garden or contractor check-out to have them look up the price with the SKU. That way they won't notice me taking the penny item thru SCO later.

Yeah, my store has 14 of the Dyna-Glo's for $99 (left column, third down). Seems like a solid deal at the price. Thinking of getting one tomorrow. Can't find much info on them though, like reviews or original retail.

edit: I'll attach my screen shot, but I was only going for the numbers, not the picture

I liked your answer. The store here sold all of their nail guns or took them to the back so they would not sell to cheap. The tool man told me a story about a real good table saw coming back with no home scanning at a .01 and they donated it supposedly.Nails in tool rental not to .44 yet.

Do you ever recall checking Sku's and NOTHING comes up at the computer? If that ever happens, I can almost guarantee those are $0.01.
I did that for two different items yesterday. Neither one showed up in the computer or the HD app. The date on the clearance sticker is over 2 months old. Neither the model numbers or the sku brought up anything. I price checked them and both showed up at the price on the sticker.

At the risk of sounding like I need a tin foil hat, I wonder if that particular store is making custom sku's to avoid items reaching penny status.

I saw a few of these yesterday. Retail is $199. Standing back 10 feet, $99 seems like a steal. Up close and playing around with it, it is a pretty low-grade grill. Super thin metal, plastic knobs made to appear stainless, etc.

BTW, I'm no grill expert and I only spent a couple mins checking it out. IMO, it might be OK in a pinch but appeared to be a pretty low quality item so I passed.

Trying to figure out how this works. If I found a yellow tag item that is $23.06 and dated in April then it is likely only $.01?

it may still be $23.06

it may also be lower price but still at .06 level ( I've seen that with husky. price dropped again but stayed at .06 level )

it may be $**.03

it may be $.01

it may be out of the system with "see attendant" message

You never know till you check. I found some labels from 2014 last weekend.

Still price checked at the 2014 clearance price.

Yea, I'm looking to find out the ins and outs on this stuff. Anyone willing to give a crash course on this stuff. What the .06 or .03 means and when and where you guys find these hidden items! Any help would be appreciated!

I heard something about it has to do with the length of time since the last person purchased the item. Don't remember if I heard it here or from an HD employee

In the price check app, is there a way to show when the price was last updated? I.e. how long the price has been where it's at.

If you guys go back and read a diff thread about how to get penny items it'll save you a lot of time and questions. There is about 6 pages of info on it, regarding items ending in .06, .03 etc.

Make sure you are posting items you find on sale for a penny or really cheap.

It happened again at a different HD. The item was a utility cart but it kept coming up in the app as a kitchen sink even when I scanned the bar code into the app. It came up as $81 at the self checkout. I can't figure what is going on here.

Really need a new string trimmer. Anyone had much luck with those? I know some did back in May, but anything more recent now that they are getting out of season.

Just to make sure, you are scanning Ridgid X4's and not the new X5's right?

Also, what does it say on the screen when you scan it, X4 or X5? I'm wondering if they tied the UPC code of the X4 to the SKU for the X5 model
