*** Hijack Warning ***

Are you thinking about storing the clothes inside the trailer, or outside using the DS400 as a tongue box? Inside storage wouldn't be as demanding for air/water tightness because you're only fighting humidity/mold/mildew. A tongue box would be directly fighting the elements like rain/snow/road spray. Will your storage requirements be short or long-term?

Most of the guys seem to be buying them on the premise that they're airtight/watertight and that they'll protect tools from rusting when they're stored outside in a garage or a shed in a humid environment. Or in your case, clothes in a trailer that could be subjected to humidity.

I'm not sure they're 100% watertight. But then I haven't actually tested them with a garden hose, by leaving them outside in a storm, or by trying to dunk then in water. Tad is pretty serious about these boxes -- maybe he has already done the tests.

The problem that I'm worried about (which I have to add is theoretical and unsubstantiated conjecture on my part) relates to the rubber seal that's supposed to seal the top/bottom when the lid is snapped shut. I had originally thought that the seal was a rubber o-ring (in which case you'd have a great water-tight seal if properly lubed and compressed by the lid fitting tight on the case). It turns out that the "rubber" seal is not actually an o-ring that is inlaid into the recess in the top of the case. It's actually an expanding foam that has been squirted into place with a caulking gun while it's in the liquid state, which then firms-up and looks like an o-ring when it cures. (Think of the expanding polyurethane foams.) I never even realized this until I got a DS400 where the caulking was sloppy and there was a trail of caulk that was outside of the groove.

The problem that I'm having with many of my cases is that I don't feel any compression of the seal when I snap them shut -- they just snap shut without giving the sensation of a positive pressure lock. The result is that the "air screw" on the top of the case never "burps" properly. When a Pelican case gets closed the seals are tight, some air gets compressed in the case, and the bleed screw will burp.

You can see below that there is a solid 3/32" - 1/8"+ of compression on those seals. First pic is unlatched, second pic is latched.

Just grabbed 3 x 18 gauge Bostich nailers at $29 each.

1 x 15 gauge Bostitch nailer at $48.

Not penny deals but still ok.

That's a great deal? Was it discontinued? Do you have a sku?

BTFP72156

They also had two Bostitch floor staplers but they were still $479

Would have been nice to get them for a penny but I figured they'd be gone by then.

Actually had an associate stop me today as my receipt was printing. Quickly called a manager over and he told me I would have to return the items and they will sell them to me at last clearance price. I told him no thank you and that I already own the merchandise as I paid legitimately at what the item rang up as. He said "your absolutely correct" and helped me load everything off the bagging area into my cart. I made a second trip in and found a bunch more stuff, found the manager and asked how he would like to handle it as I would like to purchase more penny items. He said go through self checkout and he would let the attendant know.

A month or so ago I brought up the problem where the Milwaukee M18 grinders were in price-check at 03 status and were ringing up at full retail price. When that happened I had the Pro guy look at the price history for me. He noted that the price was marked down to clearance several weeks earlier, and on the same day that the clearance price went into effect, someone over-rode the clearance price and marked it back up to full price. Evidently some store managers kill the clearance deals and change the prices in the register database. But they don't know enough to fix the price in the price check app. It would be a lot easier on everyone if they adjusted the price in both places. When they fail to do that there's always drama at the registers.

This is the kind of post that would really benefit from location disclosure.

Happened to some dewalt razor knifes. Said 3.32 in app rang up 9.** sticker on shelve was 17.**

They said app was wrong. No go for 3.32

The store that changes closeout pricing back to full msrp probably does that until they penny out then they let the price be at a penny for inside scam job. JMHO

I think it's only a matter of time until HD just kills the Price Check app altogether. I swear, in my store, NONE of the employees know to use it. They all think the website is the last word, which is so woefully incorrect.

The $99 DynaGlo grills (LOVE mine BTW) are no longer on the website, and my store can't figure it out. They actually hand-wrote "$569.00" on a piece of paper and put it on one of 8+ DynaGlos out front. LOL, a $99 grill priced at $569.00 because they can't pull their heads out.

When I purchased mine the guy who helped me insisted it would be on the website even though I told him I knew it was not. When he couldn't find it, he found a similar model on the website and told me $339.00. I finally hand-fed them the SKU but never told them where I got it (searching clearance grills on the Price Check app)

The price check app on the computers is about the equivalent of their hand held PDA's. It's on the network. Killing it probably won't happen. Too much money from an IT stand point.

Every Time I go to use a PC down here, the price check app is open with an item pulled up. And I've seen store associates use it.

Bear in mind that many of the employees have their jobs because they're qualified to lift heavy objects onto and off of shelves, not because they have IT degrees.

Yet another new registrant with one post needs spoon-feeding about how to use the computer. Man, we really need to make HomeDepotRob's penny thread sticky.

An informative answer would have taken less keystrokes and time. Jesus.:wtf:

Thank you for being concerned about how much time and effort it takes for me to type a post. Typing is not a problem for me. Really, there's nothing to worry about. ;)

If you go back and read for comprehension you'll see that I provided an informative answer to his question. I gave the exact information he needed -- he even thanked me for my post. It's all good.

There are so many repeated queries about the computers and the penny deals that it really would help reduce the bulk of this thread if that one were made sticky.

The computer is a reference tool. Don't rely on what that says. I have been on too many wild goose chases because of that darn thing. You have employees and other people probably hiding stuff. You have stuff that's been stolen or even never received properly. Store associates can also do a count change because they spent 30 seconds looking for an item and couldn't find any more so they zero it out.

I took my first jaunt today to the Price-Check app, but was flummoxed by one thing:

How does the search box work?

I searched on Bosch and found all sorts of stuff.

I searched on Bosch Box, Bosch Tote and all sorts of other search parameters and was never able to whittle the list down to something more limited.

Ditto for Milwaukee Multimeter, Milwaukee Clamp, Pressure Washer etc.

Apologies if this is buried somewhere....I've done some searching to no avail.

type in the keyword you're interested in, then click "refine results" in the left corner, then click the "clearance" radio button, and finally click "return to results" in the top left corner.

You should then see a list of clearance items related to your keyword. When you click on one it should show a quantity and location if available.

Ltoolio, you're not missing anything -- the search function on the price check app is a poorly designed POS. It's a kluge interface for sure. Using it to perform a refined search involves going forward and backwards through a number of screens and your choices aren't saved, so you have to re-enter them. It is actually a bit of a pain in the **** as it involves jumping through the same hoop over and over again.

@Coralnut - you confirmed what I thought....I was going through the Refine options like poppa and speedy suggested, but wanted to get to an even finer list of items.

Thanks for the input.

Not much today hit up 3 stores. Two paslode fuel and nail plastic cases for a penny. Also 6 Honda fuel caps that had penny sticker on it. Walked up to the scanner with a 4 gallon sprayer that had the spring Black Friday sticker on it it rang up full price. They had some tool chest a few dollars off.

Don't trust the computer count. I've found both nails and nailers that the computer said didn't exist.

Thanks for 3 more paragraphs of bulk. Very helpful.
