Also had a penny faucet that has gone too long and came up as see attendant.

Lancaster, Texas. The MOD was not happy, I had to call corporate. They tried to change the price. Corporate told them to honor the 1 cent. The then gave them to me, as I walked out I asked the cashier you realize the items are not on my receipt. Everyone dealing with this seamed upset like I had them at gun point then let them go.

That is how it is at HD... They dont want to help you when you find a deal. They dont want to take responsibility for their own screwups... The law in Texas is very clear on this, you have to sell it at its price in the computer system unless the disputed price is LOWER than what shows in the system.

Question about penny items.

I was in a HD earlier and saw these Milwaukee pliers. Thought based on the born on date they might be a penny. Took them to the self checkout and they rung up regular price?

How do y'all check on these items? Just take them to the self checkout like I did?

There were a few different types of hand tools from Milwaukee hanging with them with the same type of pice tag.

What state is this in? Around here they are full price. Could use a new grill. 3 of the 4 burners in mine are now broken at the welds. They still work but this will be its last season.

The DynaGlos previously mentioned in this thread have gone from $99 to $49. 5 burner, stainless. My CO store still has 8 out front w a hand-written tag of $569 'cause they only know how to use the website to check items and this grill was pulled from the website LONG ago.

Full price as in 15.06 or 21.97? That date isn't old enough for penny yet. They should be going to a .03 soon though.

I thought that the born on date referenced the $15.06 price?

Sometimes. Then sometimes the dates are wonky. Even though it's been over "6 weeks" that's just a rule of thumb. I would expect them to drop again soon though.

So I should expect them to go to an $**.03 price before they go to a penny? Sorry, I'm new at this.

Yup. It (generally) goes $**.00 to $**.06 to $**.03 then to a penny.
Can also go $**.00 to $**.08 to $**.04 to $**.02 then to a penny.

In theory that's how it should work...but it doesn't always work that way. The dates aren't always updated with the sticker.

The date only indicates when the mark down process for that item began and is not changed whenever the price changes. The transition from the $**.03 stage to a penny is typically, but not always, 3 weeks after the item hit the $**.03 level.

After one cashier and two managers I managed to pull it off!! Elderly cashier was confused by the drastic price change as I played dumb. Manager came over and said it wasn't his call. Other manager came and said if it's 132, sell it back to him, he got lucky. Originally told them I wanted to change the card.

They are coming up as $498 in the computer. How do I or can I tell if it will ring up at $132.09?

If it's 498 in the price check app, it will ring up 498. My best advice is to look on the HD website and find stores around you that don't show any stock online. Those are either stores that have these on clearance or never stocked them to begin with.

My store has the sticker on these as 69.99 and 99.99 . dated 12/4/14.
I scanned it at the self check out and it comes up invalid item. I had the cashier check and she told me 69.99 and 99.99 respectively. how do you get these down to a penny? since the chests have been on the floor for almost a year.. no clearance tag, just original prices

thanks, i'm new to the penny deals, i got a few, but just small ones.

Are you scanning the sticker or the actual UPC bar code on the box? Don't scan stickers!

In Northern, NJ and Westbury, Long Island, I have yet to find any .03 and .06 items that are pennied out even remotely close to 3 weeks and 6 weeks respectively. It has to be over 6 months around these stores for it to maybe be lower. The messier the store / lazier the workers - the better.

Is the key using the self check outs and if it rings a penny go ahead and pay right away before alerting employees?

That is the idea. With those two big items, it might be best to check out with one, put it in your car/truck, then go back in for the other. Have your card out of your wallet and ready to swipe, or cash if that's what you use. Try and do it as quickly as possible. I sometimes walk by and wait until there are a few people checking out at the same time, or the attendant is helping someone out.

Yeah thats what I do. Never even tried to get a penny item through normal checkout (although Ive read of people who have had success doing so)

Weekends are best because the one person in charge of all the self checkout kiosks ends up pretty busy so you can swoop in and do your thing without being noticed.

I always get a bit nervous when the penny items need to be deactivated (the wire thing with magnet security tag) but just having the receipt in hand seems to be enough....they've never verified the line item on my receipt so they've never seen the penny.

Thats something I would jump on, always wanted a small compressor and have been eyeing that one because of the vertical orientation

I know there are better quieter ones out there, but for 79 bux not sure how you can go wrong
