Thanks for the confirmation. Will need to see if my luck holds out while I try and score an additional 6 boxes during my rounds of MD/VA/DC. Don't think I will be that lucky, but you never know.........

Are there any advantages of this LED bulb over Philips T8 cool white fluorescent (other than the energy usage-12w vs 32w)?
this led is 1600 lumens vs 2950 fluorescent

Not sure how bright the LED are in comparison to the fluourescent noted above but I do know that the LED have a longer life, and should be almost half the cost to operate. So if the brightness is close, it would seem that the LED win hands down. However, when you factor in the cost of the LED vice the fluourescent - at least at this time - this factor is a major negative.

I was lucky in scoring a box of LED for $17 (pack of 10). If I had to pay the full price - either $17 each for the bulbs I found, or $9.99 for the other LED bulbs (2000 lumen) posted by another GJB member, vice the penny for a box of fluorescent bulbs (again a 10 pack), the cost of the LEDs could become very prohibited real fast given that I need approximately 90 bulbs to meet my needs. I am sure that someone has done a cost comparison over the life of the bulbs, but again, even if you only need a few, the fluorescent will always be cheaper than the LED.

bucksnort... not everyone has the means or the resources to create, or maintain a commercial account.

I setup my own FedEx consumer account and get better rates than in the store, but Im sure there are better rates still out there.

Shipping prices for packages are now weighted more based on shape than weight. Its very possible a larger item can cost less than a smaller item because it just happens to fit better in the truck.

I also think this is why Amazon ships so many things in boxes that seem way too big.....easier for them to efficiently fill a truck with the same-ish size boxes regardless of how small the item inside is.

Often, when I have to ship something bigger than about a shoe-box, I use our account at work. We ship a couple thousand packages a month, so the company gets pretty good FedEx rates. I don't like to take it for granted, so I only use it occasionally, on the awkward or large sized stuff. When I do, I drive it to the FedEx office, get the receipt, than go to our finance department and pay the accountant for the shipping charge. Rates for consumers walking in off the street are MUCH higher than rates of a high-volume customer.

But I'd NEVER use one of those Kinko's type FedEx places. That's 100% full FedEx retail, plus several points.

But can you imagine how much Amazon must sell/ship in order to absorb the free shipping? Wow.

The rates I get from Staples are the same rates I get from UPS.com and USPS.com. I just assumed that's the best you can get without a business account

It's been a while since I compared rates, but the quotes I was getting from a USPS account was the same as going through Paypal/eBay. The discount is modest, but I think available to anyone since it avoids the labor cost of using the counter.

Seen this before. Most of the stuff was only on clearance at stores that don't normally stock it.

Stores that did usually carry them were still at full price. I never managed to find the clearanced items, only full priced ones.

I DO NOT have a commercial account. Where do you get this? I get the same rates as Joe Blow off the street

In my case the savings with 3 LED bulbs used 1hr per week over fluorescent is expected to be $0.41 a year.

Ive never had much luck flipping with Ebay. Aside from the fees, its an issue of volume and going against established businesses vs. me selling one or two of something.

I had the Dyson vacuums purchased for 100.00 each, great buy, but to flip them on Ebay would have been a waste....shipping cost was so high and there were plenty of sellers offering free shipping at a BIN price that was too low even for me.

I stick to CL to resell stuff and most of the time thats not overly successful either. I would imagine, right now, blowers and chainsaws would be a hot CL item though. I might see if I can find them myself.

It all depends on what you buy and sell, I've been selling on ebay since February. Have sold over 5000 dollars already. Lots of 42 cent, penny and free nails among other things. I've sold and shipped one of those $100 Dyson vacuums and made 80 dollars on it after shipping and fees. 30 bucks here 50 bucks there it all adds up in profits with a little effort. I bundle alot of my nails and ship them in USPS flat rate boxes. It's a little extra money paid for my Disney family trip a couple of weeks ago and still have money left in my PayPal account to spare. Not too mention cases of nails still to be sold.

Heck when I go to the stores I scan clearance items all the time with my eBay app and see what things are selling for. If I find a decent amount of profit i buy and sell it. Not to mention all the stuff I keep for my self.

I ship 76# steel bumpers to the left coast for $50 which include a $9 oversize charge. You must be doing something wrong. I shipped high wheel weed wackers across the country and still made a profit. I could probably send a chainsaw for less than $18

Very true Fedex ground or Fedex to USPS option are cheap too. do it all the time.

Nice.

Re the vacs, I told myself I wanted to make 80-100, but I price things on Ebay assuming worst case scenario for shipping. For the vac it was about 50 bux to the west coast, if I wanted to make 80 and I already paid 100 for it, Id have to sell it for 230 BIN with free shipping. There were established sellers (i.e. ebay stores with loads of feedback) selling them for 200 shipped. I cant really compete with that.

I had them up on CL for 175 and still didnt get any hits. Might just be my location.

As far as "smalls", I didnt get in on the nail deal so I dont have those and any other deal on small items, my stores tend to have very few of (at least when I get there) so there isnt much to be made there.

No big deal....I just find it fun actually finding the stuff.

Most of what Im looking for I want to keep anyway so finding 1 or 2 doesnt hurt too much. If I find a bunch of something Ill try to resell it and if I dont get any hits for a week or two I sell it onto family/friends at my cost (sometimes I get beer and wings out of it too)

The 2606-21CT was a Fathers Day promo at $99. Afterward they just changed the sticker from white to yellow and left the price the same. I don't think most stores have brought any in since Fathers Day, and so most will be OOS.

2606-22 is the new one.

I found a 2606-20 in a 2606-21 box missing one battery.

Mgr said 150.00 final offer.

does FedEx have a good online ship tool now? I remember trying it a few years ago and I hated it. it was nowhere near ups.
someone has mentioned eBay has discount for FedEx. is that true? I don't sell on eBay that much but when I do I try to use USPS Priority online( cheaper ) or Staples UPS ( staples has 15% shipping discounts from time to time + I use gift cards which I get from Discover Card at 20% discount )
if FedEx is cheaper than what I use I want to switch

This. Would be a pain to ship as well. CL is your best bet. I wish I could pick up a few blowers to flip...

Expect that eBay price to go down a lot now that everyone is buying and selling them.

I've sold 5 already - averaging about $170 a piece. 2 on eBay and 1 on Craigslist. It's a pretty small saw, so not much of a pain to ship at all. Shouldn't have much of a problem to sell the 12 I have.

I have both USPS account where I request free flat rate boxes to be delivered to my house. and a Fedex online account. But I only use the eBay shipping format, you can change it around and get the best cost.

I had to file an online claim with USPS they lost my package, it was easy and I got payed with in a week or two with a check in the mail. They have free insurance for up to 50 Fedex has free insurance for 100, but only if you ship it all the way with them, if you pick Fedex to ship and then transfer it to USPS they don't office the 100 free insurance.

Picked this up for a penny, old lady gave me hell saying it's wrong and that I'd have to pay the price on the tag. But I had already put a penny in and had and showed her the receipt saying it was a penny and I had already paid. She called the manager lady over and said to the old one that it was an item that was suppose to be pulled, but since he already paid for it, that it's he. She grumpily with a snark on her face gave it to me and said have a nice day.. CDA idaho

Lucky you. Most 06 still have a while before getting to a penny. Cant make out the date.

I've never seen that item in the store.

I saw some laminated world maps once in a store. Why would HD carry those?

Found this roller cover marked a penny, it was sitting on a MET cart.

Also, I found a 4 of the Ridgid compressors sitting there for $79. I'm holding out for the next drop.

You should buy that penny item and save the sticker and receipt, so when they pull that bull **** and say they can't sell penny items then you show them the receipt with the sticker attached to it.

I'm gonna hold off on the Ridgid compressor too. Lets see how low it goes.

For some reason the Ridgid compressors are hard to find around here all of a sudden.

Thats why I bit at 79.00, but will keep an eye on the price in case I can get an adjustment (or just buy another at the cheaper price and return the 79.00 one)

If an item is a penny, will it show up at a PRICE SCANNER (not self checkout) as a penny?
what price scanner?

Are referring to the one employees use? if so then yes it will show the $0.01 and that's why you don't want employees to scan the item for u. Chances are an employee will tell you they can't sell this item and try to take it away from you.
I don't know the official policy in this particular case. if you had the item in your hands it's probably yours if it was on the shelf I don't know but either way its better to just use self checkout

Hit up a few Home Depots yesterday picked up 4 grills for $50 a piece and found 2 husky 26 inch black black drawer cabinets for a penny manager was pissed and refused to sell them to me so I offered to buy them at the 45.03 price he said okay and continued to question me on how I found them all while implying that it was an inside job and an employee had probably had told me where to find the cabinets.

No, those price checkers that are in some aisles. It's for the customers to use. They have them in other stores too like walmart.
