If it's the store I'm thinking of, it's the same store that has a penny 5 burner grill in the box in top stock above the wheelbarrows. The employee wouldn't get it down until talking to a manager since he couldn't find it in his handheld. That manager said it was to be donated. It's still sitting there two weeks later. I'll take another stab at it when I've got room in my truck on a day off. Haven't really been up to buying recon stuff unless I truly need it.
How much does it weigh? I drug a orange ladder over myself and got a tool chest top half down myself from the top shelve once.

How are folks handling the reconditioned items? Found the homelite pressure washer, but it is reconditioned. Has a yellow tag with a new barcode and a price of $230.

Are people just popping off the tag and giving them the sku?

yes, unless the new SKU is etched onto the washer like they're doing with some of the reconditioned Echo stuff.

make sure you have a picture of it with the $29 price and the SKU number, take a pic from the Price Check app.

Is it just me or are they much more lenient here in New England than metro arrears around the country. When I bought the recon CS-330, it had the recon SKU etched into it, but I brought the guy over to the computer and he gladly honored the 65.03. They just discounted the recon SKU.

Its a crapshoot for me here in CT.

Some stores seem to want to make everyone happy, some stores only seem happy by raining on parades.

And some stores just have different managers that like a little bit of each.

that's what I've been saying all along. I didn't get too many penny items but I only got one without a fight (excluding unnoticed cso ones)
oh and I'm lucky if I hear Merry Christmas during Christmas

its this one....notice the sku ### and the model ###
well on the machine, you will see a black/sliver label...and there is a model number, serial number, manufacture date....
well...all you have to point to is the model number UT80993A.... the HD clerk can search items by model number and make....and it will bring up the sku ##, correct model number and clearance price indicated above.

You may have to work it out with manager or helpful csr...most of time,, I get it at the clearance price...but if they are dicks....then they will find all kinds of reasons to deny it....

I had exactly the same issue (except it had a price tag for another washer) I walked out with nothing
corporate said its up to the store to price reconditioned items any way they like
store employees at this location are the stupidest people have ever seen in my life

I agree that its silly they charge more for a recon item when the new item is on clearance.

Removing the tag seems a bit sketchy to me from a legal perspective. Its stupid for HD to charge more for it, but that's there problem. Removing the tag and bringing it to the register is just as much willful concealment as swapping tags between items.

Picked up a recon model 3250W Portamate for $99. There is a different recon SKU engraved plus the tag had the recon SKU for $229. There is a little UPC barcode on the frame. Cashier scanned the (pulling up the correct SKU) for $99 and no questions no hassle. She said "good deal".

Didn't want to pass on it since the 3 stores around me show zero or negative one in stock. Hopefully there's no problems with it.

Btw the smaller Ridgid generator isn't on clearance here, they don't even carry it. All they have is the 5700W and 6800W both at full price.

The Ridgid 2 pack grinders finally got marked down. $48 lol. Too bad they have been sold out for like 3 months.

Biddeford showed stock last I checked but I never saw/found them.

I wish I'd find a dang chainsaw around here. I could really use one.

Spent longer than I should admit searching for stuff today at HD. At least I'm there enough the employees don't question me using an in store computer.

Got denied the HDMI cables tonight. I took them from the overhead they have been on for months and walked them to SCO. Started scanning and knew I would have issues (17 of them) so I asked the cashier to enter the qty and that they were ringing penny. She calls an electrical guy who says they aren't supposed to sell them and that they are supposed to send them back. Call over another manager who asks where I got it to which I reply overhead above other cables. He says oh so I can only sell you one. For all you know we are waiting to send those back. (which we all know is BS but). So I mention the corporate policy to which he replies that doesn't apply to overheads and that they are supposed to send them back so I say ya you should have done that months ago like you were supposed to... As I walk out he says thank you so I turn and say ya, you should be thanking me...

On my way home I called corporate and the lady confirmed the overhead isn't fair game which some of you have heard before.

I didn't really care, they aren't a huge deal to me. Especially since I just got the toolbox from there. Lesson learned, next time they came from a clearance rack :)

Just got my call back from HD executive support. They totaled up all of the missing Echo parts at $72. They're sending me a check in the mail for $100 to cover the parts, and an email with a link to where I can order the parts.

let me know which CT stores you both have checked. I'll try to look in the next day or two.

I found one in Derby, a friend of mine needed one so he grabbed it. That was a little over a month ago.

Ive checked Orange, Stratford, Bpt and Trumbull and found no others.

I managed to find a display box for an Echo 330T saw today, but that was about it (nothing in it and the display was gone)

the display box was at Bport, right? At least I found one there a few weeks ago and they put it right back in the rafters even though it was empty.

Glad to get some great deals on clearance items.

If I get something for a penny great, but I would not make a big deal about it or give anyone ****. Because if H.D. changes the system then we get no deals...just something to think about...

Yep!

I kinda figured you were the one that bought the actual saw but maybe not.

What I found odd about my trips today (Bpt and Trumbull) is that NONE of the Echo stuff is on clearance in those stores. At least not yet.

No doubt.

By far most of my deals have been at the .03 level. I prefer not to try and hide it or hope it drops to a penny before someone buys it.

The penny deals are really nice for bragging rights but 75% off isnt too shabby either ;)

I bought the display at Fairfield, but they didn't have a box. Saw the box at Bport on the top shelf but when they pulled it down it was empty.

Last week I saw the 490 and 590 at a few stores, but all full price.
