Can I see a better pic of the saw?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm pretty sure the one Spn got is the 18 volt Ryobi P543 they have a new model, but that one is 119 dollars and the portion of the chain saw comes out of the box, on the discointiued Penny version the whole chain saw is in the box. Here is a pic when I got it at 33 dollars two months ago.

This is the reason I need one of those blowers... 24 50 gallon bags for the front yard. Will have another 60 bags for the backyard. That will get done on Christmas break..

Any advice on how to get them to sell a reconditioned item for the normal sales price? Found a Dyson from post 5513 marked at $300 with a reconditioned sticker, the sku is different but it is the same item as the new version which is on clearance for $150. I gave them the sku of the new version and the assistant manager was saying the sku is different than what was on the yellow sticker and told me the best they could do is 10% of the yellow sticker.

Ask for the store manager and tell him it's priced higher than a new one. If that doesn't work, you can try corporate. In reality, they should be giving you at least 10% off the price of a new item

I spoke with the assistant manager and she was pretty much set on the fact that reconditioned items were different than retail items. She explained that reconditioned items were repaired and are sold under different skus, though completely ignoring the fact that the item I was trying to buy was probably 2 years old and on top of that a used return.

I plan to go back during the day and speak with the real manager.

Sseiyah, I ran into same issues at my 3 home depots. As I stated in an earlier post anything electronic they have reconditioned stickers on them and not clearance. When I talked to the lawn and garden manager (whom I know well from church), he says they do this so they don't automatically lower like normal clearance items. It has gotten so bad that the Milwaukee Rotary hammers I posted earlier this week have reconditioned stickers on them with a washer taped to the list saying that this is what was replaced. Hope this isn't a trend and I tried calling corporate about it and they can't do anything. It's a totally different sku setup that individual stores control.

Long time lurker finally scored my first. Ryobi 18v 10" chainsaw. Looks like it may have been the display but thats fine I'll take it. Went to SCO and it popped up the message about needing assistance. The employee asked to see the tag and typed it into her pc and I guess she didn't notice or didn't care it came up 0.01 and I was on my merry way.

Forgot to post this yesterday. I had noticed a box in the overhead with the two SKUs for these two blades on it with "clearance" written next to them a few weeks ago. Pulled the box down yesterday knowing that they had pennied out and sure enough.

So do the stores you frequent know about the penny deal situation because of you and SPN and now they don't bother you? Or did they already know?

Not sure honestly. I would have to imagine they already knew. I mean a bunch of the computers you go to have penny clearance tags laying around it.

They tremble in fear when we walk in. It's like getting a visit from the CEO.

On the deals side, got a reconditioned Ryobi 2800 pressure washer for $75 yesterday. Tilton NH was showing 6 of the yellow Karcher electric pressure washers in stock for $29, nowhere to be found. Asked the garden guy, he says "we haven't had them for over 6 months, people keep asking about them". Meanwhile, 6 months later, they're still showing 6 in stock.

Talked to the store manager about it, he looks around, then calls over the garden guy and questions him about why they're still showing 6 in stock. He wasn't happy. Manager tells me I can take either of the electric Ryobi pressure washers for half price. I say "I'll take one of these reconditioned Ryobi's instead if you'd rather get rid of them". $75 out the door (was marked $225). They had about 7 reconditioned gas Ryobi's sitting on the floor. These are the Honda models, probably the exact same thing as the Homelite that's out there for $29.

Granted this doesn't help anyone else, but figured i'd share the story.

Translation: Yes, I do occasionally buy stuff for more than a penny lol

Lol although I rarely get penny deals (mostly 75% off), I have been dubbed "the deal man" at my local hd lol. .if only they knew about you two!

SPN is far more into it than I am. Takes dedication to spend Fri-Sun in the stores

I try and hit a couple stores a week.

I was in the store where the manager is a donkey and he is pushing a cart of pesticide that is pennied out. I looked at candy bars and pop tarts and the label was wrong. The cashier scanned a protien bar that had pennied out. She would not sell them.

I saw a store where the pulled the PB580t off the display and only kept them up high and they put a recon pb500t there that was spray painted green on the top and etched RECON

Then they put a tag on it that says Normal Price 319.99 reduced to 299.99

I found one of the Delta shower faucets I've been hunting down at the $63 range. They had stacked the clearance tags on top of each other which isn't unusual but just out of curiosity I peeled them off and lined them up to see if anything could be deduced from seeing all the clearance tags. One thing I found interesting was the date on the clearance tags stayed the same across time. I was under the impression that they changed based on when it dropped or was printed. Secondly, there were three price drops that ended with "00" before the "06" and the "03".
