Kind of hard not to.

True. They added them to all the nailer sections when they did the resets but they were not functioning for a while, just noticed they were working the other day.

The other night I also witnessed a guy get dragged back into the store in handcuffs by a big burly LP guy. This is the only store I have seen an LP guy walking around the store as if he is a customer watching people that might steal.

Has anyone else noticed that the new lcd camera boxes that beep when you walk by now show a picture in picture view of someone watching all the camera feeds?

Yep....I like it when I walk past them, trigger the sensor, it beeps and starts recording and I'm no longer in that aisle.

It has been at $45 for quite some time now. Would have to be pretty lucky to find one.

So stopped at local HD on the way home last night to push my luck to see about more brushes. I figured what the heck, donate them to the local school for art class or plays. A couple good friends are teachers and I'm sure they would take them better than getting thrown out. But no luck.

Instead a crushed husky tool box that I wasn't allowed to buy a month ago was still in overhead. I know they went penny status and cleared out of the system already. Asked to speak to manager. Told him they pennied out and now are out of the system would he deal. Said nope can't sell penny we get in a lot of trouble for it. Okay no problem have a nice night. He says he can sell it to me at last clearance price. I say no thanks if I needed it that bad I would of made sure I was here on time to get them when they clearanced out and not buy a crushed one. He asked me what I would pay and I asked why he was so inquisitive. He stated that since its up there and still in inventory because it wasn't stolen and allowed to clear out it would also be a problem for him if he tried to return to vendor. We discussed and ended up at $35. A couple 2x4's with c-clamps and maybe fixing a cracked weld and I'll have a new husky toolbox. Really can't complain as I picked up a 02 dodge ram for $200 on Sunday (it's pretty clean). Everyone getting corporate involved seems a little overkill. I tend to be rational, if you needed it so badly you wouldn't have waited till it was a penny and this way future dealings hopefully won't be as much of a hassle.

Never worked in HD, but worked in clothing retail. It was 3 witnesses for us, we weren't allowed to confront them, but had to tell management or loss prevention. I knew most of the thiefs, but there wasn't anything I could do at the time except tell them enjoy the merchandise. Lol

when i worked the paint desk at lowe's from 2003-2004, the policy was to politely ask the customer to come back but in no way should we try to stop anyone. The reasoning, explained to us in training was that they would prefer to not even remotely take the chance of having an non-LP associate offend a customer by accusing them of stealing, because the average Lowe's customer spends 2k a year at their stores.

:eyecrazy:

Not sure I really follow the logic but that's what they drilled into us back then.

Picked up a Milwaukee Fuel Hammer drill kit for $162. Was $299, Clearance sticker said $210, price checked $180, less 10%.

Came with a charger, 2 4.0ah batteries, handle, and the case. The two pack of batteries alone would've been either $99 or $129.

Slowly but surely building my M18 set. Already had a fuel impact kit, grinder, and oscillating tool from the summer clearance.
Last thing I need is the grinder and I'll be happy. If course I don't think I'll ever get the whole line up lol

I'm a big fan of the grinder. I'd never had a cordless one before but its super convenient! I really like the paddle switch on it too.

I've been using it with the 2.0 batteries and it lasts a reasonable time, but I'm eager to see how long the big 4.0XC batteries last with it.

Those camera have face recognition software which connects to main database, but I wonder if the screen they show LP watching is really live? Looks so staged, but haven't been able to compare to other stores. Normally two people on the video feed.

All my HD rebate applications were denied? Anyone have this happen before? Two of them were $700.00+ orders with nothing discounted on them.

Atlanta wages drive has a pb500 blower reconditioned unit that they are firm at $299. After spending 45 mins talking to 5 people, showing the penny price on their computer it was a no go. Someone else might have better luck.

If you really want it/need it, you might try calling corporate. If they (store) plays the reconditioned card though, you will be out of luck.

Might be better to just wait a month or so and try again. They might be more willing to deal when they see it hasn't moved. Maybe offer them last clearance price.

Thats the plan if I see it during the next few weeks. I did offer $80 something and asked them to pull up the last clearance price, which they claimed was not possible. :dunno:

The thing that really bothers me, they could have simply said "sorry, we can't sell it for less than the generic sticker" vs making up ******** as they kept talking. I was nice, I waited and picked out a employee who helped me with a window purchase and spent 45mins bs'ing in the parking lot while loading the windows on a prior trip.

I simply stated, I had been watching these over the last year and missed when they went on sale during the closeout, "wondering if I could buy it at one of the prior discount prices vs the $299 which is sorta crazy for a beat up/repaired unit" I was then lectured on how it had been repaired, it was a online only model, doesnt exist in the system, they never discount items since it was such a good deal already on sale yada yada yada.

Lastly, I am finding it is such a time **** to have to chase down deals if it involves store employees. I basically wasted 2 hours this morning, think I am sticking to stuff I can find and check out with, I'll pass the unicorns on to the next sd'er.

I got my first penny items today! Just those Ethernet/HDMI plates, but still excited.

Now for the good part, and questions. I found a PB-500 display on the shelf. Is a PB-500 different than a PB-500H? It had the hip mounted throttle like the H model. Does anyone know the SKU for this model? It should help in trying to buy it. What's the best why to go about trying to get it?

Thanks. You seem to be an expert around here, so what's the best way to get this thing out of the store? I've never bought a display model before. Talk to a manager? Customer service desk? all the displays are locked to the shelf so I can't put it in a cart and take it up front.

I haven't had the best luck but... Ultimately it all depends on whether the manager you talk to wants to get rid of it. It is their discretion whether or not to sell display items.

I would start by asking to speak with a a manger and explaining the situation that this blower was discontinued, clearanced out, and is now penny status and that you are interested in purchasing it and see what his reaction is. Show him the picture below so he can verify the model and SKU etc match. If he gets defensive, maybe try and negotiate last clearance price.

If he doesn't want to sell it you are SOL. Corporate will not help you in the purchase of a penny display item.

You must make a lot of money if an hour (max) of your time is worth $200-$300.

no i just have values. i dont mind lucking up on a deal, but to call corporate and get them involved is just being a ****, IMO. anything to save a buck, right?

You have a Sku for that round up?

It's replaced with one with a side mounted wand, so if you spot one that looks like the above on the shelf it should be penny.

Corporate wouldn't have to get involved if the employees would follow corporate policy

This. It's not my fault employees don't pay attention. I am not getting paid to do their job for them.

The date on the service tag of the pressure washer is October. That thing has been $29 since before then so his argument that they would have scrapped it instead of getting it fixed is ****. Should have looked up what they were sending off before sending it off... Not my fault.
