Picked this up with an extra 10% off Lowe's coupon on top. I think they may have had the wrong tag on it, but I wasn't about to complain.

Not a terrible haul. They had a whole pallet of weed and seed but that's all I needed for now haha

Well, that would explain why I never run across them. Thursday is my usual go to HD and see what I can find on clearance day. :)

I think they got a new manager at my local HD. About a year ago, they had a HUGE clearance area up at the front of the store, and every once in a great while I'd run across some of the penny stuff that they'd just leave up there (usually stuff that was cheap to begin with), but basically everything in the store that was on clearance was rounded up there. Then it just went away, replaced with a couple of much smaller areas on endcaps. Most of the stuff there gets sold/rotated out by the staff pretty quickly. It is rare that anything sits around for more than a month or so now.

I have also noticed at least from the Home Depot's near me they don't sell open box returns anymore.

Should we move this party over to the new 2016 thread?

(If I'm out of line for making such a request - my apologies.)

Just that it's difficult enough (damn near impossible) to keep up with one deals thread - I'd have to quit my job to even make an honest attempt at keeping up with two. [emoji3]

Most of us don't like a home depot that is super well managed with very hands-on employees. That's kind of what that new thread feels like. Not sure what it is but it feels like it's trying too hard, which is a bit off putting to me so far.

For those of you who can't find a customer computer at the store, have you tried going to Customer Service and just asking if you can use one of their computers?
I've been to several stores without the kiosks and after asking CS, I've always either been escorted to the cabinet section where they set me up on a computer or they've even let me go behind the CS counter and use that computer.

Never hurts to ask, the worse they can say is 'No'. I usually phrase it "Do you have a computer I can use to hop onto homedepot.com?". I think they're making a big push to inform customers that they have a wider selection on the website. Once you get to the computer, go into the Store App and launch the Price Checker - easy...

Had my brother with me the other day - store showed 6 of those bit sets in stock but couldn't find one - left bc I was taking too long. Nice grab.

I had a similar situation as grizzlyjmg.

I was at a store that I have found a few penny items before and today I found 3 of the 8 ZONE X-CORE CONTROLLER HUNTER sku 421915 only select stores have this clearanced and they are already going penny status. I proceeded to scan them and the attendant stopped the transaction so I hit the back button (I didn't even know you could circumvent the 'See Attendant' message but it worked) and I scanned all 3, paid, got my receipt, and bagged all 3. Then the attendant walks over and grabs my receipt and says that they cant sell the items. I politely asked for my receipt back and said I had already paid and that the items were mine.

He then grabs the bags and I asked him to call the MOD (thinking he would be reasonable) I was wrong. He reiterated what the attendant had said then he scans one of the items and says that it is recalled we cant them. I countered with what i had told the attendant about having paid and having a receipt. He reached out for the receipt and I didn't let him grab it because at this point I could see that I should have just left with the items before they had possession of them.

I then asked him about corporate policy and he said he cant sell it its recalled. I asked so if I call corporate right now they would side with you, he said yes of course. I told him to not take the items anywhere and that I was going to call corporate. He said ok with this $hit eating grin on is face. Little did I know that corporate was closed today. I then asked if he would hold the items until I could call, he said no because that cant sell them. At this point he sounded like a broken record.

I then stated that the item had been clearanced and that there was still a tag and they were on the shelf and I asked how could they be recalled. He then says well I dont know if they are recalled or not but we still cant sell them. So short of calling the police to report a theft of 3 penny items (which would have probably been very entertaining) I left because there was no reasoning with him, but before I could the smug SOB asked if I wanted my 3 cents returned I told him no because I would be contacting corporate.

Update on my situation:
Since corporate was closed on Thurs 31st and Fri 1st I sent an email to corporate right after leaving the store. Today I got a call and an email from corporate apologizing for the stores actions and that per corporate and store policy they should have sold the items to me for a penny each and should have let me leave with the items. I then get a call from the assistant manager of the store and she says that they have located the items and that I can come pick them up, But even then she made the point to say that if she was working the day I had come in she would not have sold them for a penny and she would have let them go for the last clearance price. She then says I can come purchase them, I told her well I already paid and they took the items so I would be coming by to pick them up.

Glad it worked out for you. I don't know who these people think they are sometimes.

What brand is that shop light? If it's anything other than Commercial Electric I may be interested in a few of those

Your pic is blurry, can't read the SKU to look it up

Where is the picture?

It may be the Lithonia 2 light diamond plate light. I think those are on their way out.

The are like the ones that went this summer except they are chrome and 2 light instead of 3.

hmm he moved it to the 2016 thread. it's an LED shop light.
Edit: meh, it is Commercial Electric. I don't think I want to replace my basement lighting with a cheap brand like that.

I found these two items at my Home Depot on the same day hondapc posted this. There were yellow tags on the shelf where each item was located stating that drills were $12.00, and that the Sharkbite was $16.03. I really had to dig toward the back of the pallet rack to find the Sharkbite, and that gave me hope. I took both items up the register.

Drum roll please...

$12.00 for the drill bits, and $16.03 for the Sharkbite. Not pennies. I didn't buy them.

Is this a well orchestrated ruse? A new internet age level of millennial marketing? I've been to Home Depot more times this week than I have this century. I've spent a couple hundred dollars more than I would otherwise have spent on items other than these penny deals I was seeking, just so the trip to HD wouldn't be wasted.

I haven't been able to replicate a single one of the deals posted here.

I helped myself to one of the Home Depot computers, pursuant to the recommendations in this thread.

After closing the internet explorer window, I was first met with a giant, mostly blank orange screen that had only this to say on the bottom...

Somehow, I got past that screen, and found this menu page...

None of the icons presented on that screen sounded to me like what I remembered SPN1025 writing about, so I started clicking on any and every one that seemed remotely related to price or inventory. Most of the time, clicking the icons led me to this authentication request:

Do those of you who manage to successfully use HD's computer have your own user name and password?

I usually use the "Price Check" icon on the the top line, where it also says "public". Never had to enter any username.

I havent looked for these penny deals myself but from my understanding is that these deals are by no means national or regional. Its a store by store thing. The guys who get them put time and effort into finding these.

Also there is a new Home Depot Clearance Thread for 2016:

That's pretty normal. You're seeing a pool of a couple people that are knowledgeable and for the most part, lucky. That pool of a couple people makes it look like "everyone" is finding these deals when reading these threads, but that's not quite the case.

Every store is different when it comes to these penny deals.

2015 is over. Can a Moderator close this thread, please?

I think moderators ought to make this forum or thread private or only for users....that way lurkers have to sign up to discover deals...
there is a reason why most of the finds are not posted over at slickdeasl....because once slickdeals effect takes place....whole area get wiped out pretty fast....

I actually signed up to participate in this thread and the Lowes deals thread. I didn't like being a "lurker" so I joined to contribute what I can. Seems like a great forum overall as well.

IThe guys who get them put time and effort into finding these.

Well, I've put in about two hours a night for the past week, including travel time and research time, along with a sincere effort, and that isn't enough.

On the Lowe's thread, SPN1025 showed his trunk full of about 100 Husky wrench sets (4 cases of 25 sets each), and yes, he reports paying only one US dollar. Not each. No. For the entire lot. They would probably toss me in jail for the night if I tried that.

I'll keep trying, but with my luck, I'd be amazed if I found a penny in the parking lot. Not sure of the need for a new thread, but it looks like another one is already a few pages long.

I doubt the moderators would privatize this thread, with well over a million hits. Since Facebook metastasized, forum traffic is too hard to come by, and too vital to lose to another medium.

I kinda like this thread. I recently joined although my brother that lives with me has been a register lurker for a few years. I used the store cpu today and walked some aisles. Was in that low volume well managed HD anyway. My GF beat me to our first penny item grinning by searching the end cap clearance with a vengeance. Looks like original packaging gone and sku penned in is the only reason it didn't get pulled. Nice blonde 8 year employed called and busted them out to search anew for any hidden 1 cent deals.

Called the Phenix City store and the girl found 4 of these so I purchased with my card and will go partying down there and pick them up this weekend or next.

You can search stock in regional stores on the price check app. Keep in mind other stores do not have to honor the price on the store you are in. 37.00 dollars at the store I was in. Phenix city has 3 but at 279.99. I was told Brinkman filed bankruptcy so the prices will be failing. The Ttown store has the gas/charcoal unit from 299 to 199.

The M12 hammer drill is down to 133.00 today from 189.00

Here is what it looks like to check regional. The computers are slow so wait before clicking.

Wes comin' in hot lol.

Some of the elder statesmen may have a problem with that.

A problem with closing an outdated thread since there is already a new one? How so? I don't mean DELETE it. I'm sure some would want it archived....but at least close it from active posts.

One point is that even though the posting date is 2016, someone might want to post regarding activity that took place in 2015. Such as that when I went to use the computer a couple days after Christmas an HD employee told me that they had no computers for customers. Another employee overheard and instructed her that this computer (one of three in a row at customer service) could be turned around and made available. It's not marked or anything, if I hadn't asked I would have been out of luck. I saw 2 penny deals but could not locate the items on the shelves. About 45 minutes then, and another 45 after New Years, still no luck. But having seen them in the computer gives me some hope.
