I think it's up to the manager you talk to. I used the HF coupon to get 20% off an air compressor. But the manager made the point that the coupon would only be accepted for the types of things that both HF and HD would both sell.

This makes sense to me. For stuff that HD sells that HF does not..its not a competitor...

I shop at both frequently, but never heard of HD acepting HF coupons. That explanation makes good sense why the manager agreed. I might try that in the future and see how it goes here.

While we are on Home Depot and Lowes coupons...

Lowes typically has 10% off coupons at the post office in the movers packets. Go in, ask for a movers pack and there you go. If they ask you if are moving...OK course you are...

These are nice for the larger purchases. I have about 5 or so sitting around that expire in October.

They take them at Home Depot also.

Yup. I don't even need to say anythign anymore though. I go to Lowe's what seems like a few times a day and they all know me. Hell one night it was near closing and I forgot my wallet. Cashier was working in the morning, told me to just swing in when I happened to be back and I could settle up.

So I tried it..wanted to buy a wringer mop and bucket...I was hoping HF had it..but no..So I went to HD, and asked the 'greeter' ...a couple looked at it and said 'sure'. At the checkout I told the checker they said 'ok'. When we were done, she said..'now that I think of it..my manager said not to accept HF coupons'...But she said it was ok since I had already paid...saved a big $7! More for beer and wine!

I am amazed that either one will take a HF coupon, given that neither Lowes or HD comes close to selling the 'non-quality' yunke that HF does.
Then you might be surprised at the percentage of Home Depot and Lowes stock that comes from our friends across the Pacific. :)

Mine did a few times then the manager said they only do it on Federal holidays.
I checked with the corporate number and they said the same thing

I use Lowes coupons all the time at HD, but never thought of trying a HF one.

I used to buy HD gift cards off of ebay, Was pretty common to get them for 12-13% below face value when I started buying them. Toss on a 10% off coupn and it sure helped at the checkout. But over time that 12-13% went to 10% then 8% and now a days 8% is tough to find.

While I never got burned, just doesn't seem worth the risk and hassle for much less than 8% savings. But I am planning a bathroom remodel soon and it might be worth stocking up on a few gift cards before the project to help ease the pain at the checkout.

Also keep in mind that Lowes will price match competitors pricing plus take an additional 10% off. You just have to show an add or printed info to verify that the items are identical.
