I love self checkouts.

I agree. No more waiting for the old woman to write a check or count her change. Fortunately, she doesn't know how to use the self-checkout either. No more waiting for someone with 2 carts of food. Doing it myself is just plain faster. I realize that part of the store's price is to service the customer, but if I can get out of the store faster, it's worth it, in my opinion. I don't feel like I'm paying for service I don't get.

On topic:
I purchase products at Home Depot more frequently than Lowe's. Lowe's is maybe 1 minute further than HD, but it is brand new and I still don't know the lay-out all too well. I do however appreciate the improved mechanic's tool section at Lowe's. They are both equally clean, and both have their share of knowledgeable and oblivious staff.

I gotta go with Lowes...I have an HD about 3 miles from my house (Clearwater N store). If you have ever driven in this parking lot, it is a free-for-all (Kinda reminds me of Grand Central Station at rush hour.). People don't stop for the stop signs or pedestrians for that matter. The Lowes about 6 miles away, is a lot cleaner and the parking lot is not as crazy.
