So with these items selling for roughly 50% off, is HD losing money or just breaking even on this clearance? Does anyone know how much HD or any other store pays for similar items? My guess would be just breaking even as they probably want at least a 100% markup.
Nm brand powertools are extremely marked up so I'm sure they are still a bit above breaking even. I'm sure it all depends on how many they purchased originally from the manufacture. However you never know these companies might be pushing HD to mark them down and get rid of them because they might be getting ready to introduce a new line of powertools for spring.

I skipped on the bosch and milwaukee grinders due to the made in china. Thought I would have gotten the milwaukee over the bosch. 6amp vs 10amp on 1/4" plate = big difference.

I'm looking forward to see what replaces these tools as at least with the miter saw, it just came out recently so I can't believe they would have a replacement model already. As for the Dewalt sets, I understand all of the manufacturers are moving to lithium ion so they would want to get rid of all of the old Nicad stock.

so, went to HD for a look around yesterday and missed out on all the 'good' stuff.
I noticed this Rigid table saw for clearance at $299 (regular $599) so after some thinking about it I thought I would go ahead and get it.
I had a couple of gift cards so I ended up at about $175 out of pocket
this think is one heavy mother to unload

only problem is now I have 3 tablesaws. I thought I needed 2 of them but not really sure about needing 3. I suspect one will be going for sale (or getting returned) once I try this one out

The Milwaukee is the one I was after but they had none.

This one will do the trick for my needs.

I'm not saying they all are being replaced, but it's a possibility. Another is that maybe HD overstocked too many ver the holidays, they didn't sell and now they are trying to make room for something else. In the retail enviroment there are dozens of reasons why things go on clearence.

I got the sweet Milwaukee saw for $239! I have seen them at HD for $599, then $549.

Is this an American-made Milwaukee? I saw it at HD a while ago, and thought it looked pretty well-made. I'm still keeping my eyes open for an older Craftsman that a relative has. That is, I hope to find one like it at a garage sale, not take his :)

Every now and then there are 2-packs of Makita grinders as well.

I saw plenty of Milwaukee grinders at my local store. $40, with an avg retail price of $60.

I too got the 2 grinders at $39, a right angle rigid drill (I got it for the battery mainly) for $35, and a 7000 W Generac generator for $499 (regularly 1099).
Thanks Stuey

Isn't the box 600+ lbs because of the granite top? I was seriously considering looking for it, I just don't have any space to position that beast in my garage. :( Looking forward to some pictures and a review.

For the wood workers... I was told HD is going to put their Ridgid jointer (or joiner) depending on where you are from, marked down to $199 from $450.

first an update from my local store, they said there would be clearances for the next three weeks. They said the new clearance list comes out on mondays, but the store may not get around to marking stuff down until later in the week.
Second my score, I got the 1/2 inch dewalt 18v impact, with charger and 2 xrp batteries for 149, regular 299. I was stoked.

Hi Everyone:

I hope that this is not the wrong place to ask, but does anyone know where I can pick up a Generac 7000E in or around the Houston area? It was sold out in every store I went to. If you bought one and don't want it I would be interested in purchasing it as well.

Thanks,
Kevin

Our local CL is also full of folks reselling the Dewalt combo kits they bought at the clearance. The funny thing is that there is so much supply of these on CL and ebay that they can't mark them up too much (supply and demand, I guess). So the combo kits that were cleared at $99 are being sold at $150-160.

I am almost tempted to buy one, but I hate to patronize folks who buy up the clearance items not for themselves but to resell.

not sure
the box says the tool is like 475lbs.
I opened the box, they had the saw well packaged and protected.
I removed all the boxed parts so just the cabinet-top-motor assembly was left and my neighbor and I unloaded that part. it was heavy buy not a back breaker.
I tipped a friend at work so he went and got the last one the following morning.
so far from looking it over it appears to be made by the same people that make the similar version for craftsman. I did some checking online and someone mentioned that they got one (a while back) that the granite top was bowed/warped. not sure how that would happen but he did also say the Rigid replaced it

Just FYI, most everything is cleared out of the Austin area stores as far as the combo packs. The 2-pack Bosch angle grinders are gone as well.

I went to the Bastrop store today and they searched the inventories for me for the Austin area stores. There are a few things left, like a Rigid planer/jointer, retail $429 on sale for $107.

I picked up a new Milwaukee 4.5" angle grinder for $38, regular price $69. Good to have insurance when my 8-year old Chicago Electric 4" gives up the ghost...

Thanks for posting this up. Wish I would've seen it earlier...

Later,
Jon D.

Thanks Stuey for the heads up on the clearance. I bought 4 sets of the drill/impact for 149.00 each. I also bought 2 of the 7000 generators, one for my parents and 1 for myself.

I think I was talking to the sales manager and if I remember correctly she did mention that they were 199. I'll have to go back and talk to her since none of them were sold.

You're very welcome. =)

yea, i live literally 5 mins from there. i live in plainfield nj, but there is another hd in the same shopping center as my current job, so i go there. and theres less traffic

Ah, that's good to know. That HD isn't one of my favorites as their tool dept. is usually lacking in terms of sales or clearance stock, but it's the closest one to me as well.

Big thanks to Stuey. I normally stay current with SD (check in the morning and at night), but I missed the HD sale. Saw Stuey's posting here and got to shopping.

Picked up the 18V Ridgid 4 pc Li set for $150 and the $50 Teck4 kits on Tues night. I asked about the generators (Generac 5500 and 7000) and the table saw, but the guy said they were not on sale. He didn't check, but I took his word for it.

I went back at 6am on Wed. Asked the girl to look up the stock numbers and she confirmed they were on sale and in stock. Paid for the table saw and Generac 5500. They put it on hold and I went back on Fri to pick them up. I had to rent a 16' box truck to get a powered lift gate for the table saw (around 500#).

Now I've got to make room for all of this stuff.

Called a couple of buddies (they carpool to the office together) at 7am after paying for the saw and generator and they stopped by on the way to work. They each bought a 5000W Husky ($300). Dropped them off at the house and called another guy and he wanted one too.

We'll on Wed, another guy went to a couple of HD up near the office and picked up another 5000w Husky and then went back for another for his Dad.

A few of the guys are going to convert theirs to tri-fuel. The kits are around $180 he said.

So THANKS to Stuey.....I'm in for $800 and another $1500 for the guys at work!! I really needed the 18V Ridgid b/c the old Ryobi 18V NiCad's were just about dead.

Me too, I check SD very often, but didn't see this until Stuey posted it.

I posted previously that the deal was dead where I am. However I went to a different HD and they had some of the stuff marked down. There wasn't a huge display, I just had to roam around and look for the yellow stickers. Not everything was in the tool section, so I had to check out the whole store.
