I got a gift card for christmas. I went to the website and everytime I found an item worth buying, it stated "discontinued: out of stock." I'm sure i'll find something I need, it's just a little irritating that they don't take discontinued items off their lists. Ok. Rant over. BTW, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Maybe they just quit selling it online ? Or could be the way these companies constantly change suppliers maybe its not updated yet.

Possibly. I searched anything from tools to small appliances. I could have spent that card ten times over if the items I was looking at weren't discontinued.

Better than the advance auto site. You can't even use a gift card on their website, which also means you can't use the coupon codes with a gift card.

It's done for many reasons. They leave old discontinued items on site so if people are looking for an item they previously purchased, they can now see it's discontinued. Now knowing this customer can look for other channels to purchase item.

Or maybe customer needs some more info on this previously purchased item, they can still look up the info on HD.com even though the item is discontinued.

If you do an internet search for an item, it shows up on the Home Depot website. When you click through, you find that they don't have it in stock, but now that you're here they'll be happy to sell you something similar.

Not only that but it's slow & cumbersome. I HATE their website, plus the search engine ***** and has for 10 years
