We've got a Generac Guardian 17KW on the house hooked up to LP but I also have a Honda EU6500is which is the nicest consumer level generator I've ever laid my grubby little hands on. :D

This isn't my video but it does a good job of showing off the Honda.

I think your shower is gonna be a cold one. The gas on demand water heaters use 120v current to operate the controls, flow sensing, temp control, gas valve, etc.

No, Charles, mine is a peizo start. I've had hot water all day long for a week at a time without power. In fact, there's no power hook-up at all to my on-demand Bosch. All done with D cell battery. Two D cells last about 5 years in the starter.

cheers

I have a 6500 watt diesel genny and I heat my home with HHO. I have enough fuel to keep me going for quite a while with a 275 gallon tank. My well is 220V so I couldnt mess around with a small genny.

Given the volume of fuel at my disposal and its life expectancy, Diesel was a no brainer IMO. Bought it used on CL for a few hundred $.

We almost never lose power and have never been without power for more than 8 hours in the 20 years I have lived here. If something catastrophic transpires, I will be manually flipping the main and plugging into a welding outlet.

I have a 23kw diesel that will power my whole house including the 11 tons of AC units I have. It comes in useful when we get hit with a hurricane or a bad tropical storm. It only burns about a gallon per hour at full load. While it is not used real often it is worth the $ when needed. Sorta like insurance.
