**The download links are at the bottom of this post**

I have finally finished this up and thanks to "diogenes" there was a way to package it up for everyone to use for free.

Background - There was a couple posts a while ago about what we all use for keeping track of our assets. After reading that there wasn't really anything out there that worked, I set to creating something that was easy to use had features that were useful. Here is what I came up with.

Quick features list:

Ability to create your own lists to include, manufacturer, catagory, size and type.
Ability to store photos of each item.
Ability to attach a scan of the purchase receipt.
Ability to run reports on the database, there are three reports included
- full inventory sorted by catagory and manufacturer.
- inventory by catagory
- inventory by manufacturer

It comes pre-loaded with some generic info such as sizes, manufacturers and such but you can easily edit the lists to tailor it to your needs.

For those that have not seen this before here are some screen shots:

This is the main screen: Just click a button.

The main item entry screen:

Administration screen - this is where you edit your lists: Click the list you wish to edit and it will popup.

Here is the report menu:

And here is one of the reports that are currently created: This is the full inventory report.

Here are the download links for those that wish a copy.

If you already own Microsoft Access 2007 you can download here:

http://www.netquickposse.org/files/HomeInventoryDatabase.zip

If you do not own Microsoft Access you can download this version that includes Access Runtime 2007:

http://www.netquickposse.org/files/HomeInventoryDatabase-runtime_included.zip

x64 Version - I have been asked a bunch for this, finally got around to creating it. This is the empty version of the db, you can fill in all your own categories.

For some strange reason this has become popular recently...

Here is the unlocked versions for those that wish to play.

**Disclaimer** This software is free, distributed for free, I do not warrant anything, so please do not come to me if you lose your data. **End Disclaimer**

Only thing right off that I don't see, is a data field for set part numbers. Like, this screwdriver is part of set number XYZ123. Sometimes you buy sets, and while you want to keep track of individual items like each and every socket, you also want to know if it came as part of a set and the set number. Just my thinking.

You can add your own part numbers. You can edit any of the lists to match your use.

Re: Open Office????

Do you know if this will work with Open Office database?
Thanks for all your work on this

No it will not. I tried creating it in open office, it will not port over(well I could not port it over) due to the split form used on the main entry page.

Keep,

The run time set up works fine but not the other.

I'm running Access 2007 on Win 7.
Claims there is a version problem.
I used to be an Access programmer. I expected your first download to be an accdb file. That was a long ti me ago and I haven't done much with Access 2007.

BTW: Looks like a good app from the little I've looked at it so far.

It should be an accde file. I will check it on my work machine, its running win 7 and access 2007.

Okay I checked it on my machine, I am running SP2 for office.

Other then that it should be okay, it does install in the root dir (c:/) so it may be a permission thing.

Just wanted to say thanks for making the program and for the free download. I wish I had this 5 years ago when my garage got broken into. It would have made it alot easier to reference stolen tools and report them to the insurance co.

Thanks again.

Keep,

Thanks for the reply. The accde file works fine on my machine with Office 2010. Looks like I better get busy and upgrade 2007 to SP2.
I certainly don't plan on changing anything in your program. I just like to look around and see if I can remember any of my old skills.

That is nice!

I have been using Excel for my tool inventory, but yours is much better.

Thanks for doing this.

I have had a couple requests for a blank database, so here it is.

This version has none of its lists populated, makes it easier to enter data since you do not have to wade through all the pre-populated items.

All you need to do is drop this into your installation directory ("C:\Home Inventory" is the default).

**WARNING**This will NOT transfer any data you may have entered. If you drop this in without backing up your data, it will be lost.**End**

How would I go about adding a new column to the inventory entry screen for toolbox drawer #. And how could I add the option for report by toolbox drawer #? Thanks :)

There is no way to do that with the files in the download. If you want a copy of the full db so you can modify it, send me a pm with your email address.

You must be an active member of this forum for me to respond to your PM. To many 0 post people wanting me to just hand over my work for nothing.

How did you get it to work with Office 2010? It refuses to install for me saying I have to have Office 2007.

If you download the "empty" one above it should work with 2010. No install needed with the empty one, just download, unzip and open it up.

Thanks, but now it's complaining that the database was created with the 32bit version of Access and it won't work with the 64bit version.

Yup Access 2010 x64 cannot open 32bit accde files. If you want the mdb file that will work for you shoot me a pm with your email addr.
