Nice work. What did you use to mill the top of that?
I've got a 12" piece of track and was thinking of milling half of it flat but was concerned that they get so work hardened that it would be a huge pain in the **** to mill it. I was thinking of using some cheap carbide bits in a fly cutter to avoid ruining too many expensive end mills.

Nice build! I actually, in a fit of delusional cleaning, threw a 2 foot piece of rail road track in the scrap dumpster last year when we were downsizing our shop. I do have a few set of old forklift forks though I think I will make an anvil out of.

Ain't that the truth. We scraped stuff we had had for decades last year. I bet since there has been a dozen things I've walked around looking for only to realize I junked it.
Now if I want to fab something I have to use my good junk! :)

I noticed some pieces of rail laying beside a newly built trestle and the rails look to have lengthwise holes through them. I guess it's a new type of rail? I haven't stopped to look at them, don't need the trouble.
