Home made toolbox?

I bought some random hand tools at auction and some of the tools came in this beat up old toolbox. I noticed it was riveted together. I thought maybe someone repaired part of it but after looking more into it I don’t think so.

Under the lid it says Open Heart 160 and Evansville. It appears to be galvanized metal. What do you think? There is no brand markings from what I can tell.

Pretty sure boxes like these used to be a standard shop class project.

I'd say that is a project from a sheet metal class, maybe the sixties or so.

Not that fancy, but a tool tray like you find in many tool boxes was one of the project options in my 7th grade Industral Arts class (Intro to wood & metal) in the early 1980s.
I went on to wood shop, but a tool box might have been a later project for those who continued with metal.

That’s really cool. Yeah we didn’t do cool stuff like that at my school.

I've got a smaller one that I made in shop class about 15 years ago. I don't think I've seen it for a while I'll have to look for it.

Cut and bent the sheet metal, spot welded the seams, riveted the handle and hinges.
