I have had this home made welder for a little over 20 years now and its still going strong. the guy that made it worked for General Electric building transformers like the kind on top of utility poles and had access to all materials that he needed. it doesn't have wire like a regular welder, this one has rolled copper that is about 5" wide. it has 3 settings that are low ,med., and high. I use to use it a lot as a cutting torch by using the big 1/4" rods and set it to high and it will burn through the thick steel. the case is a gutted transformer. I put a blower fan in it and casters under it years ago. now I have a miller stick welder and seldom use my home made one anymore.
