So we are just about finished with a 2 car attached garage and mud room addition to our house. I assume we should contact our home owners insurance to update it with the addition? Our city just did a tax assessment on our house so they might not tax us on the addition till they redo the assessments again.

Yes, you need to update the home owners policy. Your tax assessment has nothing to do with your home owners insurance value. Bill

I know the tax assessment had nothing to do with insurance. I was just hoping I didn't have to pay more to the city on taxes till the next assessment.

My insurance already covered accessory buildings... After we completed the exterior to our shed I contacted my insurance company. My agent increased our coverage and the premium went up $12 I think...

Give them a call!

They will probably be coming around in the next year or so. They know because you filed for a building permit. So, you won't have to tell the county or the city. They already know........unless you didn't get a building permit. :dunno:
