Just installed a simply safe for a friend, easy installs. Not the most sophisticated system but what the hell, easy cheap, no required monitoring free. Under $800 for lots of options.

Hi, I’m planning to install Home Alarm Systems as there are several burglary activities in the location where i stay right now. The toughest point is, I’m in a big dilemma thinking which option of Home Alarm Systems should i choose. Meanwhile there are several other option as well. Can anyone help me out which option is better for my home security ? Any suggestions and advices are highly appreciated.
The options listed on this website are 2 wired systems and 1 wireless.
Vista is a wired option (thought wireless sensors can also be added with an addon). The Tuxedo option they list is actually the Vista system, with the fancy Tuxedo control panel added on. The Lynx is a totally wireless option. Beyond that, they can all do the same basic job, though pricing varies a lot depending on what you want to do.

We have Protect America, it's owned by GE. We have had great service and the system has been flawless for 3 1/2 years. I chose the medium package.The system was free , just sign up for three years at 42.99 a month. You can buy more devices and add.Ours has twelve sensors and one motion .

This brings up a point - many of the big security firms offer a deal on free install but then they get you on the monthly monitoring...$43/month is pretty high, my local security firm charges about $20/month.

I installed a wireless Simplisafe system in my house and detached shop about a year and a half ago. I've had to replace a couple of AA batteries and one button battery in a keychain remote. That's not very burdensome in my book. Installed it in about 30 minutes.
Great system, no false alarms, monitored, no contract, can control from my smart phone, under $400 for my whole system.

I went with SimplySafe too. You don't have to buy monitoring for zero dollars per month. Just the initial outlay of product.
The only complaint is that they were a bit too efficient. I accidentally set off the motion alarm and they called 3 numbers within 2 minutes and then the cops. We thought we canceled the alarm, but it wasn't. The bad thing is it took 50 minutes for the sheriff to arrive at our only slightly remote location.
The other thing I did was get a high end camera system. It allows me to watch the wild turkeys onsite. Hopefully that is all...

I have two houses on the property and the monitoring fee is $360 per house per year. It is a wireless system with motion detectors and doors are alarmed. More importantly, we have thermostats that can be adjusted with a cell phone from anywhere. The system utilizes an old hardwired system for the doors and wireless motion detectors. Total installation cost was under $2500. There is a log that tells me when a door was opened and when the alarm is armed or unarmed. Without an expensive digital storage system, cameras are worthless in my opinion.

A few things to think about on the security cameras;
--most have a small field of view meaning less than 90 degrees. This means it takes two cameras to cover a view from any corner. Most of the camera that have 90 deg FOV (field of view) are non-HD and non-POE.
--In some situations I wanted to go with a small un-noticeable camera but most of those are only availabled in non-HD and non-POE.
--The IR night time lights are really only good for about 30 feet. Even most of the HD cameras are only good for about 30 feet away. Any further and it's hard to see the detail you would want to see.
--You should also make sure you can control the motion detection area by selection sections of the view you don't want to trigger like plants and trees which sway with the wind.

That software looks exactly like what I wanted out of my security system, and it's compatible with the cameras I already have. Thanks !!!i like using POE cameras. one wire to run and thats it. i have them hooked up to my computer via blueirus and it works great. emails me or texts me when it sees motion.
