I've taken apart a Homecraft 34-500 table saw to restore it. I hope someone has good knowledge of this saw.
I'm missing something related to the level adjustment shaft and tilt indicator needle. There's a shaft. The tilt indicator needle goes on the shaft. Then, a pin that goes through the shaft. The hand wheel goes onto the pin. (Pin sits inside the slot on the back of the wheel.) Then there's a lock knob to lock the position of the wheel.
First, how does the lock knob even lock the shaft from turning? All it seems to do is squeeze the hand wheel down onto the pin. There's the large nut at the base of the shaft. If you tighten that nut, it will bind the shaft from turning. But there's no way a lock knob on the face of the hand wheel can turn that nut.
Second problem is what holds the angle of the tilt indicator needle? The indicator goes onto the blade level shaft and just dangles. There's a set screw, but if you tighten the set screw, the needle rotates with the shaft as you turn the hand wheel.
I've attached a picture of that I have and a picture of the mechanism someone is selling online. What they're selling doesn't show any additional hardware than what I already have. We must be missing something.
