the lower frame is scrap square tubing I had on hand and the body is 16ga that was given to me
the lexan material used for the window was also given to me as were the wheels
the sand container is an old freon tank that was converted to be used as a pressure feed blaster. there is a pipe plug on the inside that will allow the tank to be directly refilled from what is collected inside

I can completly blast an old distributor is about 5 min and it was sized to be able to fit a mustang door in it

That's pretty cool. I have thought about building something like this for a while now. Does the sandblasting have any effects on the wood? Would think that blasting would tend to eat threw the wood pretty quickly, or do you just have to aim carefully and be sure to only hit the peice you are blasting?

I will be watching for more build pics and videos!

hi thanks for commenting yeah i was a bit worried bout the sand ccoming in contact with the wood but its notlikeim purposly goin to hold the gun at the wood so if think is should be ok if you just blasting the object as you said

the sand will go every where and it will wear on the wood.
you have a couple of options. line it with this sheetmetal. in fact where are you because I have some galv material I can give you for the project
you can also coat the inside with fiberglass resin, but the metal would be better

you could just toss in some cheap ply on the lower areas that you can replace easily when it wears..thats what i would do for seldom use

thanks bob for the offer but i live in australia so do you think lining the cabinate with some gal or other sheet metal will fix the problem and i guess lining it with etaith will make it een stronger so i go with that thanks for the help

if you put some type of steel (plain or galvanised) in the areas that are most likly to get blasted, thats all you will ever need

hi bob yeah i was thinking of lining the back and the bottom of the cabinate how think can i go with the sheet metal or gal do you think 2-3mm?

Hi,
I am also from Aus, standard stuff around 0.55mm or 0.75mm would do you. It's the same stuff they roll for roofing, ducts, etc.
If you go to you local sheet metal place they might have some off cuts or stuff ups they will give you.

the thicker the better but even 2-3mm material will deflect the sand very well because it will be backed up by the wood
