Homemade table saw table

I bought a $100 table saw a few years ago that has plenty power but an almost worthless table top and fence..

So I built a table to attach the table saw to. My requirements were a sturdy and easy to move fence with a built in tape measure, it needed to be big enough to make up to a 4’ cut, to have a outfeed table to support a full sheet of plywood that also folds up, and for this whole table to roll around and be stored underneath another workbench of mine.

So far I love it, it has worked very well and am super pleased with the design. I believe It cost me less than $100 in supplies.

OP - you are a woodworker through and through.

Like the execution but with the thickness of the new table top don’t you sacrifice too much depth for your cuts on bevels ? The out feed legs are really nice .

It looks great but curious why you didnt make it so the table saw top dropped into the table. The way you have it now you lose the thickness of the table top in your depth of cut.

Back in the sixties my dad had a whole shop full of machines made of wood. There was a company that sold all the hard parts like arbors, pulleys and different machined parts and a set of plans to build any kind of tool. Shop tools were expensive. We enjoy quality tools for very little money these days but that wasn't the case back then.

Very nice work. Did you have the use of a table saw to build the table saw? If you did all that with a circular saw I'm even more impressed.

Very cool! You need to apply for a patent . Have them reproduced in China, or sell plans, anything , I know I would buy one ,and I am sure other people would too. There are a lot of those small, inexpensive table saws out there. Your system corrects all of their shortcomings. Thanks for sharing , Brian

Yea thickness was something I knew I would be losing, but honestly I rarely cut bevels, and I still can cut through 2” of material, which is all I need for now. Sometime in the future I might router out a pocket in the bottom of the table top for the table saw to fit in, that could give me a little of that depth back.

Yea in the end, I decided I could live with the thickness I was losing. I didn’t really want the table saw top visible, I’d rather have a nice smooth top. And, id like to router out some grooves so I can add a sled later..

Honestly I love those casters. Got them on Amazon for $20. They look undersized but they are solid and roll like butter. The lock is 2 way so it keeps them from rotating as well as rolling. I think they are rated for 200lbs each

I think I have a better chance of successfully copying Ron Paulk'S. I am planning to have more space available though. ( I am not going to attempt fitting everything in a trailer!)

Oh yea, I definitely used my crappy table saw to build it's new top. I haven't had much luck being precise with a circular saw.

hmmm well I did make the plans on sketchup after I built it since a had a few friends asking... Maybe I'll get around to posting them

I bought the wooden wheels on amazon, and the arms are just 1x2's and planed down 1x2 spacers sandwhiched together. Drilled holes all the way through, slid eachwheel in, and hammered a dowel rod in to hold it in there.

And i have never made a jewlry box, just random things here and there.
