Hi Guys!

First time post!!!!

Has anyone ever attempted to make their own tool box, tool chest or tool storage system? I made one out of PVC to hold five of those Stanley Organizers. Anyone ever do anything similar? I am looking for inspiration and ideas for version 2.0!

I have not as of yet, but I want to try to make some sort of shelfs, racks, etc.. when my wife and I close on our house. I'll make a thread if I ever get them built! ;)

Someone made a sweet wooden toolbox about the size of a 2bay. It's buried somewhere in the "let's see your toolbox" thread.

Not a whole box, but I've been starting to make aluminum holders for my wrench sets.

I believe there was a thread called the "organized list of organization posts" wich showed alot of great organization ideas, some homemade in there.

Welcome to GJ

I'd be very interested in seeing some pictures of that

Here are some pics. I tried to make it as portable as possible. I also tried to paint it using that Krylon Fusion paint for plastics. (Its not worth **** BTW...)

I was looking to build something similar to this. Portable but that will keep everything organized. And not north of $300 like this is!

Those Stanley storage boxes are also sold at HF, I have about a dozen from the last good sale. They are made to stack, so I stack mine a good five high depending on the size. Great storage, lid closed and none of the compartments spill to each other.

I have. All the boxes in my garage are homemade. The ********* one took forever to build.

They really are awesome boxes. The problem with stacking them is that if I need something from one of the ones on the bottom I have to move all of them off the top. That's why I designed it so you could pull any one out you wanted. The PVC is holding up surprisingly well. I know it is not the structurally strongest material. I was originally looking to make it out of 1/2" EMT, but you can't find "T" or 90's for EMT like you can for PVC
