Homemade wrench racks

I like having my wrenches on the wall right behind my bench, easy reach, easy access, and finding the right size is fast. Pegboard is great but the pegs were spaced out way too far and took up too much room on the board. So here is what I came up with....
Lay out your wrenches on your bench in the pattern you want and mark some 1/2" square tube. Drill each mark only thru the one side. Next take some 1/4" rod and measure each piece to the length you need for your wrenches. One small spot weld on the underneath side is good enough to hold the pegs. Paint it up and mount it to the wall.

My setup is....

Left side top row..... SAE 1/4"to 1" (2 of each)
bottom row... gearwrench set and crossforce set.

Right side is all Metric set up the same way. With Crescents added there too.

since i don't have a welder i think i could take some 1x2 and rip them....drill some shallow holes and cut dowel rods to length.

You must be some welder to be able to reach inside that tiny *** tube and spot weld the pin on the bottom!

Nice neat setup for storing them. I made one similar from a piece of alum extrusion and several pressed in dowel pins for my sockets years ago. For my wrenches right now I took a piece of 1 x 12 and laid out how I want to arrange them and just used nails. Since in many cases I have several wrenches of the same size I keep them grouped together and with the nail head I don't have to worry about them slipping off. Not as pretty, but it does keep them separated between inch and metric on one place.

Looks good to me. I took a similar approach when I built the tool tray for my homemade bicycle repair stand.

I drilled equally spaced holes in the angle iron which supports the tool tray and inserted 1/4" round rod, centered the rod, welded it in place and bent the end up slightly. This way I can hang wrenches on both the front and the back of the angle iron, effectively doubling the number of hanging pegs.
