honey do list projects? fess up post um here

My wife has been reminding me that she NEEDs some stuff built. Last week she informed me that we would build these items on her next day off

She recently bought me a kayak so that I can't weasel out of her group trips so easy. Therefore we NEEDed a new wall mount rack and a trailer to haul several kayaks.

She was off last Thursday so I was prepared for her to-do list. I had the designs planned out, and cut much of the stock in advance.

Her list included mow lawn, burn brush pile, move large rocks from the back 40 to our new lot, sew grass on new lot (after some leveling),etc, etc. However, #1 and #2 on the list was build trailer and rack for kayaks.

I put her to work

I had her strip all of the hardware from this old trailer from Florida, hey I let her use air tools!

I had her prep for welding LOL

she cleaned up after welding

and we stuck these together too

Much to her surprise, we didn't finish anything on her list after 12 hours in the shop. She was so tired it didn't even matter. I hung up her rack and put a bit of paint on the trailer on Friday, and we used it Saturday. It is still in prototype mode tho.

My Dirty Girl has a bit better perspective, just needed a reminder.

I love that she was suprised the 2 of you didn't get everything finished. My wife has the same expectations, and the same questions as to why it wasn't finished in a day.

LOL! Put her to work in the shop

My wife cuts me a lot of slack, but she does sometimes forget that things don't build themselves. She works a lot of hours in a hospital, so she has fun in the shop when she gets a chance. It's a much different kind of hard work!

She grew up on her grandfather's farm, he was a retired machinist. He always had a job in the shop or farm for her to do. I wish I had meet him, all of his stuff was sold off for scrap I'm always hearing "Grandpa's drill press didn't make noise/vibrate", "We need a lathe around here" "Grandpa's horizontal band saw used lube and cut much faster" "dad sold Grandpa's mill for $200, why don't you just buy one?" some day Honey, Maybe some day!!

Wives tend to be like fresh out of school engineers. Not as much skill or knowledge as they think, and unrealistic expectations.

My wife brings up all these honey do lists but I haven't had time to do a lot. We are getting ready to move her mother and I am working on that. For the most part on the honey dos I am on my own. She will help on some yard stuff and if I need her to help hold something. I have a old boat trailer the BIL gave me when he moved away I have thought about building a teardrop camper out of it. Do you ever go kayaking over at Rock Island past Sparta? When the olympics was in Atlanta some of the kayak people in the olympics practiced there. Its suppose to be a good place to go.

My wife and I have access to our new home on April 29th. I'm supposed to tear down around 300-350 square feet of old wood panelling, hang drywall, tape and mud for the painter she booked to come in on May 2nd.

I've drywalled exactly once in my life.

man, my wife makes a huge list every spring, and usually we do get it (mostly) done by fall.
past projects included removal of 65+YO ash tree from front yard, new sidewalk in back, new deck, new front concrete steps, teardown and rebuild new garage, and on and on.

this years biggest upcoming project is putting a cummins 4bta into a dodge durango.

she helps out, but for the most part it is all me.....

We have not been there yet, but hope to make it this summer. We will be going down 12 miles of the rain swollen Wolf River this weekend.
