Hook and Loop Sandpaper sheets

I have a number of electric and air sanders that require either triangle or round hook and loop sandpaper. Local suppliers carry a limited supply or none at all.

The 2" round discs I buy online are a fraction of an inch to small. I want them to extend past the pad 1/16" of an inch. This helps protect the pad in case they walk a little when I'm using them.

I want to cut my own paper. I feel it will be more economical and convenient if i have a stack of sheets readily available.

The problem is I can't find a good source for full sheets of hook and loop backed paper.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Spin your 2" pad against some sandpaper until it's 1-7/8 across. Now your 2" paper will stick out 1/16" from the edge of your pad.

Or just forget "protecting" the pad edges.

I found some 2 & 3" disks on Amazon, Dura-gold brand. The 3" work well (so far) and have some material go past the backing pad. They seem fairly inexpensive, 30pk for 7$ or so.

Abrasive Resource: 1-800-814-7358 (will make discs of any diameter you wish as they have a laser cutter. Just give them a call, tell them what you need and they will quote you a price. The Starcke 747 material (which is film backed) is the way to go.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I just bought some of those Duragold 2" discs. Again, just a tad too small, but they work well. Seem like a good value for the money.

I like the idea of shaving down the pad a bit. I have a number of them so I will give it a try.

That bargain box looked good until I saw that some rolls are as narrow as 1". With my luck the narrow rolls the most common grits I use. My triangle pad for my oscillating tool is about 3 3/4" corner to corner, which is why I'm looking for at least half sheets or full sheets.

I bought 1 box in sticky backed,1 box in h&l ,nothing under 2 inches wide.most were about 3" rolls. Later today I'll try and dig some out to get a exact sample.
