Hook and pick set recommendations?

The Menards ARE Pratt-Read, Channellock I am 99% sure are as well. Menards are the cheapest offering.

2 of my 4 are missing their tips.

i have a set of craftsman pros that have served me well. they are full size handle pics.
i only use my hf picks for small jobs. they really dont hold up well. got a set of matco branded whitte that work pretty decent if you need the smaller style. they seem to be 3 times the tool of the hf stuff.

If you have a tool truck that comes to your work I'd buy off them. From what I see in the warranty bins on trucks I would say picks and screwdrivers make up the majority.

Pratt Read or the Masterforce-branded PR picks are very nice. I have two sets.

The Ullman devices are OK. I personally don't like the handle.

I'm interested in trying these new Channellock picks.

So for someone that isn't to need these very often, Are the husky ones on sale at home depot utter **** for just puttering at home? Or should I go ahead and order some solid ones from one of the big players?

Plus they come in a pouch. I don't want to stick one of those picks under my fingernail.

I bought mine at Rural King farm store about 5 years ago. They are made in USA.
Menards used, or maybe still does, the rebranded PR as their store brand.

I have Pratt reads, and Craftsmans USA.. Both are great, my Pratts have been used more... both were less than 15 bucks a set and USA made.

I bought a maroon Matco hard handle set 25 years ago.

So far so good.

i have a set of the orange handles. not to bad. they seem to hold their shape over other brands i have used of this size. i have some snap on pics, but they are large handle versions

You would think the dominator picks would be great. USA made and lifetime warranty. I've got a Dominator scratch awl and its sharp as new.

I have Snap On and Craftsman with the clearish white handles. The Snap On are just fantastic and have had them since the late 90's. I just picked up the Craftsmans on sale for like $4 for my field service tool set. They are USA made and really good so far. They are normally $9.99. I tried to link them but the Sears site is utter ****. I searched craftsman pick set and got pick sets from every company under the sun except craftsman. I finally found them. I was on the mobile site the first time I searched.

I like to have both types, the ones mostly mentioned here which I guess you could call mini picks. Most have huge handles or striking caps. They wont work when you need a slimmer long pick similar to a dental pick. I had some matco ones that I am pretty sure were Ullmans.

I believe Menards still sells these under their Masterforce name, although my local store recently cleared out a lot of their Masterforce stuff and I haven't noticed if the picks made the cut. If you keep your eyes open you can get them for about $5 on sale. I have a couple of sets and they've held up well.

I have cornwell long and short and MAC picks. The MAC's are my go to but I would really like to get some snap on's. Might just trade my cornwell and Mac sets for some. There is a difference in the quality that makes snap on stand out.
