Woodcraft supply, part number 158880, has a hook and pick set for sale $19.99.
It is advertised as made in USA by Grace USA tools. There are Woodcraft stores at various place around the country and they sell woodworking supplies.
I have a set of HF picks which I haven't broken yet, but am going to
take a look at these. I couldn't figure out how to link to the catalog or would have posted a link.

I'd love to tell you how they look in person, feel, etc. but Woodcraft closed the store near me a few weeks ago.

Woodcraft isn't known for their low prices. I'd suggest you check around before purchasing from them. We have a few of the high end woodworking store locally. They are neat to look around in but a bit out of the budget for the average guy IMHO. Occasionally if you find a sale you may find a good deal. Also, our stores might be really small compared to some, but they only carry a fraction of the items listed online in store.

I might buy these. I usually buy at least 1 pick set at hf if they are on sale for 99cents, but these are US made and look decent.

Well, I hoped to have a set to describe, but the store was out. Ordered a set, should get it in 2-3 days, from Parkersburg, WVA. If they don't get snowed under, of course.

Hook and pick set arrived. The appearance is like those pictured in the link in the post above. Length 5 1/2 inches. Square part of handle 1 1/2 inches long, 3/4 inch across the flats. They are well made. "Grace USA" and model number on the wooden handle. Packaged in a heavy plastic case (a sack type, not blowmolded). Ad for Grace gunsmith screwdriver set inside. Grace has sold hollow ground gunsmith screwdrivers for more than 50 years. Grace is in Williamsburg, MI, WWW.graceusaguntools.com, according to the markings on the package.

Grace USA has some good reviews on their hollow ground screwdrivers from the firearms groups. Was considering a set of my own.

I bought this Pratt-Read set recently. I am quite happy with them. I use the o-ring pick a lot, and this one has a very good shape in addition to being durable. These are fairly small, and are very good for delicate work.

I also have a cheap HF set that comes in handy when I think I might damage one of the tools. I used the L-hook a lot rebuilding a Ford automatic transmission to maneuver large snap rings in and out. I would use a screwdriver to dislodge the snap ring from the groove and get the L-hook under it to lift it away from the groove. It also worked well to bet behind clutch discs to lift them out.
