Hoover Portapower Vacuum Replacement

I need to replace my 30 year old Hoover Portapower vacuum. I like the size of the Portapower and the cloth bag. I use it as a mini shop vac and it handles 90% of my garage/car chores.

The current version of the Portapower has mixed reviews so I'm looking for alternatives if there are any out there. Would like to stay with the same size/weight of the Portapower.

Ridgid makes good shop vacuums. Have you looked at their portable models?

The noise level, especially in a portable vacuum, would be important to me. This Vacmaster has a two-stage motor which they claim makes it quieter. The description says it has a dust bag. It weighs 17 pounds which is twice as much as the current PortaPower vacuum.
