Horizontal Air Compressor

Friends,

I'm looking for options with large(r) horizontal air compressors. The space I want to put my compressor doesn't have enough room for a vertical one.

A couple of questions.

1) is it possible to put vertical compressors horizontally?
2) any recommendations on larger horizontal compressors?

Thanks.

You cant run the compressor laid over.

I always recommend Champion air compressors with pocket valves.

You have to orient the compressor head so that the oiling system will work correctly. If it is an oiless then the answer may be yes. Be aware that you can divorce the motor/compressor head from the receiver, and orient the receiver any way you want. It would also be possible to mount the compressor head on an L bracket from where it was originally. Not that I would recommend it, but an option to consider.

I thought about turning my vertical tank horizontal, then mounting the motor/pump on a sturdy shelf over the tank.....I was going to build an outside shed, that I really didn't want to be 6' tall.....I might just buy a used horizontal tank and then sell my upright...Hopefully I'd break even...

Better off to buy a quality industrial compressor of CL, seem to be plenty reasonably priced. I think most home shop guys are looking for verticals.
