I was given an older 6" horizontal band saw, and my buddy lost the vertical adapter. I just need to cut a few things down, and that adapter would be amazing. Anyone ever made a vertical plate for a horizontal band saw? Looking for ideas, gotta scour the web...

If it's like this one a new table plate is easy to make.

Get a 8x8 inch 1/8 inch 10ga plate and use a saber saw to cut a blade relief and drill and counter sink the 2 mounting holes. The holes in the saw should be 1/4"-20 thread, I just cut down some Philips drive flat head machine bolts.

Another semi upgrade for one of these saws is to use a heavy spring from the back of the motor mount to the frame to add tension to the belt. the thumb screw tensioner tends to bend and let the belt loosen up. The spring will allow the tension to be there but if the saw binds up it will allow the belt to slip saving the blade.

I also have had poor results with the commercial blades for these saws, better to find a local or online supplies that will make the bi-metal blades to order.

This is exactly what I was going to suggest to the OP when I saw post 1. I read your thread on the Delta table w great interest a year or two ago, then went to look on ebay for Delta tables, but couldn't find any. Then a bigger fire came along and I got distracted and forgot about it. But still want to improve the table on my 7x12

HAP, what is the purpose of the wire wheel?

BTW- looks like I have a new project. I happen to have a small saw table I pulled from a scroll saw that broke. Its cast, but should work.

Most band saws have one of these to help clean the chips off of the blade before the drive drum.

Hope your project works out...

I googled vertical adapter and found none. Which part of the saw I can locate the adapter? I think my saw doesn't have one.
