Horizontal Venting on Tube Heater

I am getting ready to install my Reverberray tube heater and I am going to vent out the sidewall. The sidewall is drywall, insulation, OSB, vinyl siding. The total wall thickness is 7". The thimble that comes with the heater will not connect in the middle if I attach it to the drywall on one side and the vinyl siding on the other. There will be a 1" gap between the two thimble pieces because of the wall thickness. Is this ok? Should I fasten a piece of metal to the thimble to extend it. How should I approach this? Thanks.
