Hose bay under workbench

I'd like to have a short (35' or so) retractible water hose at the end of my workbench, in the corner by the garage door opening. The simple solution is to leave space at the end of the workbench. But I'd like to maximize the length of the workbench, so I'm thinking of having the work top extend all the way to the corner, and have the hose storage under the worktop. There are some narrow Reelcraft reels, among others that would do this. But the problem is how/where to position the faucet/shutoff. It will be a pretty narrow space, about a foot wide, and I don't want to have to reach under the worktop and all the way to the wall behind it to reach the faucet. I'm having plumbing work done in the garage, so I can have the faucet pretty much wherever I want in this corner. Anyone have ideas, or pictures of something similar that they have done?

Place a shower valve in the wall above the work bench.

I plumbed a shower valve (diverter) to use it to provide hot and cold to a hose bib. Had very poor flow at the hose bib. Also needed to make sure it was left in the cold position when the hose bib was inactive otherwise it allowed a thermosyphon effect to occur and the house hot/cold was blended for a while. I took it out and replaced it with a a purpose built hot and cold hose bib.

Plumb in quarter turn valve above workbench and go from there

I think this would work.

That's what I would do. Ball valve located in appropriate location, then pipe ran down wall under bench to a threaded connection, then a short jumper hose to the hose reel. Same concept as mounting an air hose reel.

Personally I would not use any GHT = garden hose thread until I got to the actual hose reel itself.

Plumb the water like residential water with NPT and sweat-soldered copper joints. Place a union(s) (if using hot water need 2) and possibly use some corrugated flex lines for water heaters. It depends how permanent your workbench installation is.

I would use full port ball valve(s) in your setup. THe mixer valve would be optional and if you use the ball valves in series it should take care of any siphon issues because of their higher pressure ratings.

I'm just planning on cold water here, so the valve in the wall above the workbench sounds like a great solution. Going to be washing cars, rinsing off miscellaneous stuff and occasionally hosing out the garage. Also putting a sink in the garage, so there will be access to hot water.
