Jay, those pliers are for the single wire type hose clamps you'll find on large appliances; sometimes they're called Corbin clamps. I'll try to get some images up later.

Jay, those pliers are for the single wire type hose clamps you'll find on large appliances; sometimes they're called Corbin clamps. I'll try to get some images up later.
I had never seen any hose clamp pliers, before this thread. I had always used dykes and it could be very hard not to slip. I found a SEARS gift card and put it toward the hose clamp pliers. Made getting the lower radiator hose off and easy to slip back on. I won't use them every day, but I am pleased with how easy they make that chore.

I use some that look like this I have both an angled Mac and a straight Matco.

There are several versions of these tools available. This is what Elroy uses:
