Hose Crimper Questions

So I'm watching an internet car show this evening (Roadkill Garage - Extra) and the hose is demonstrating a Milton hose crimper he just bought - must be this one - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000I0QC2C/?tag=atomicindus08-20. Nice piece of gear. He used it to crimp an air hose that had been jury rigged with a hose clamp.

I can think of a lot of uses for one of these. However, he said it wasn't good for more than about 150 PSI, and not good enough for high pressure hydraulic hose. That's too bad, because I'd like the ability to make hydraulic hoses up as well.

Is there a tool that does both well, that won't cost an exorbitant amount of $?

Thanks,

Scott

I used one like that (may have been Parker) year's ago.

Issue was fitting, ferrule and hose all had to be sized or else the crimp would not hold or the ferrule would look like cap and leave a bad edge.

1/10 times I'd have to wrap it with heatshrink. Repaired a lot of air hose on that job.

not answering your question, but I have one of those crimpers. it works great if you have the right size ferrule.
They don't look 100% the same as a factory crimp, but a lot better than an old hose clamp.
ferrules can be had on Ebay for relatively cheap.

If you buy parker push-loc hose and fittings, you dont need any clamps or ferrules. You can get it from mcmaster and it is really great hose

Yes just buy the parker push lok hose, its nonsense to be crimping air lines. We just bought a Parker MiniKrimp at the farm for hydraulic hoses. New MiniKrimp off ebay was $900, 1/4,3/8,1/2 dies were another $300. A very small assortment of fittings and hose was the big expense at around $1600.

You probably have some use for it. For the burb types it's not worth it all. Back in the day had more hy lines, now only a few, I keep a spare as a couple re use ends. I do have some stuff for.air but it's rare and would use push if I didn't plus only place I care is the user end, anywhere it's fixed I use a common hose clamp.

If anyone is just doing airlines, I got a crimper from PAL for about $10 that does the job, pictured below. HF probably has them too.

When I was making up hydraulic lines, I used a two piece reuseable screw on fitting that did the job. Could have been the ones mentioned above.
