Getting moved into new farm shop. We are planning on getting an air-operated pump for filling tractors with motor oil. I'm having trouble figuring out what kind of hose to get. The hose reels for oil are 1.5-2.5x the price of same size air- hose reels; (including the hose). ( I'm looking mostly at Northern Tool.) Is there any reason I couldn't use a PVC air-hose for motor oil? Or even rubber, preferably?
Thanks for any help!
PS The air pump is supposed to run at 90-115 PSI

I am basing this answer on 20 years of working for Coxreels. Motor Oil is a much heavier viscosity than water or air. The hose and reel is typically rated for 2,500 psi becuase your air pump outs out much higher than 100 psi. The heavier hose and the pressure require a better reel. PVC is not oil resistant and the cheap red rubber hose is not as well.

A grease pump puts out almost 5,000 psi in a 1/4" hose.

depends on the psi of the pump as well but like pacmktg said you will need a reel that is rated at 2500psi or more. I till recently sold this type of equipment 1/2 x50' medium pressure reel with hose was about $450.00 and you will need a control handle as well if you want a metered one they can get 300.00

go to a hydrolic line shop and have them made up. my bobcat uses 10w40 for the hydro lines, so im assuming they can take the oil and the pressure!
