Does anyone make a set of hose grip pliers that is made in US preferably or Germany. I can only seem to find chinese made ones.

Not sure were my blue points arr made but there amazing qaulity use all the time at work

just bought mine a month ago and the truck is restocked with them, hopefully there not discontinuing them. Those and the smoothest nicest chinese pliers ive had yet.

I was looking for a nice set for quite a while. and decided to take a chance on the HF ones for $10 or $11 and have been quite happy. Saved quite a bit over the gearwrench and danahar ones. Still not US, but may be cheap enough to look past it.

They do work well for the price... definitely not a heavy use item.

I bought the gearwrench double jointed set last summer, I too was looking for a US made set but was unable to find one. They work good for the amount I use them.

They don't list the coo on MAC's site, but being that they're $38 a piece, I would hope they're USA. They got them both in 11'' and 16'' lengths.

I saw the Blue Point on the Snap On site but they are Chinese. I thought about the Gearwrench but I'm not sure if the price for the double joint is worth it in this case. I think Sunnex has a set but they are priced higher than Blue Point. I looked at Knipex and Proto neither have them either.
These might be the only Mac tools I ever purchase.
Isn't 16" kinda long?

I have those in their comfort grip handles. I've been very pleased with them. There are times though, I wish they came in a longer size. And yes, their c.o.o. is Germany.

NWS also makes hose gripping pliers as well. Although technically they're considered spark plug pliers...great for pulling the boot off. The lack of assortment somewhat limits the hose sizes you're capable of gripping. These have the same opening size as my Knipex ones and I've used my Knipex ones on a myriad of different hoses.

Mac just had a sale on they're pliers not to long ago and i think for around a hundred you get all three listed above. Plus long reach straight, 45, 90 needle nose long reach blunt nose pliers and a bunch of mini pliers. Great deal, hopped on it immediatly

i have a Blue Point Set and then two pairs of cheapies to cover the three different sizes. I have found they all the do the job without any problems. the Blue Point are definitely nicer to look at and the handles are sturdier. All Chinese

I was in the same boat as OP. very recently got a 3pc set of sunex hose grip pliers from advance auto online. They were my filler item and the coupon codes made it worth it.
Anywho, they come in a nice tool roll, the fit and finish is superb, i was actually shocked when i saw china on the pouch. It well surpassed any taiwanese pliers i've had. I was bummed that they are chinese but i can overlook it considering the quality and function of them. I love USA tools but was tired of waiting for a comparable deal. I've needed a set for a year and a half.

I have some MAC ones, I use them alot considering I'm not a tech. Like any other tool, you can get a good deal on a used one 1 feebay. imo new tools are a waste of money.

those Mac are all chinese.

The older MAC used to be made by KAL from what I can tell, and they were made in the USA. I have one MAC and one KAL, and they are very nice.

The older MAC ones were made in the USA and still can be found on eBAY. I love mine.

In addition to that set above, MAC also has an extra small one called P114XSG. It's 6.5mm diameter x 11 inches.

I've seen way too many of the HF at the swap meet broken at the tips to consider buying them. Even on sale I looked over all the pairs in the HF store and the fit of the tips put me off. I ended up buying Mountain, and not truck quality, it seemed a big step up from HF, for about twice the HF price.

These are not the tools I would expect to wrassle off a difficult hose. Spray it and use a pick to break it loose, and/or use one of the push off pliers like Lisle sells.

I've got an older pair of Macs that I love dearly, and a pair of Gearwrenches that I detest.

The Gearwrenches seem to be made of a lead/Old Milwaukee can alloy and have developed a lot of wear, especially for an infrequently used tool.

the gearwrench are horrible quality. I ordered a pair and sent them back immediately.

The old Mac/Kal are the best.

Frankstools currently lists for sale the KTC long straight nose pliers (model PS6-302) and the long bent nose pliers (model PS6-304) in the $50 to $60 range here: LINK.

I am sure you can e-mail him at [email protected] to get pricing and ordering time information from him on the KTC PS6-305 pliers. I figure these pliers will also be priced in the $50 to $60 range without shipping. If you want to spend less, wait for one of his sales before the end of the year. I would keep tabs periodically on his website for a sale announcement.

2nd Franks Tools for KTC. I have made in USA SK from either Harry J Epstein or JBTools.com. Sorry I forgot where I bought them from but those SKs are awesome.
