I'd like to know too. Modines, Reznors...I can get parts for those locally. Some of the "mail order" (ie: Northern Tool, etc.) brands, I'm not so sure about.

I just installed a Mr heater Big Maxx 75,000 btu propane heater ordered from Northern (with shipping was around 540.00) 2-300 less then the cayenne I could get locally. The big maxx is the same as an Enerco and not the same as a cayenne. I did call Mr heater support twice and was astounded by their help. It was quick and easy to get to a real person and when I did they were friendly and knowledgeable and spoke english. I felt like if I had warrranty isssues they would be very easy to work with! I do have a friend that had a cayenne installed profesionally and after a few months when they realized it wasn't heating well the PRO came back and realized they had put in gas jets instead of propane. Big difference in Orrifce size!

I just installed a Big Maxx 75k btu last weekend. Fired it up and it worked for about 2 1/2 hrs then just lost power. Called tech support Monday. Waited on hold quite awhile. First it said that there were 2 callers in front of me with a wait time of 12 minutes, then said there were 3 people in front of me with a wait time of 22 minutes. Did this several times. Finally after 25 minutes I hung up and called back. Got through within about 15 minutes the second time. Anyway, the guy said he would send me out a new circuit board and thermostat. Have not recieved them yet so I do not know if that will fix it or not. I think it is the transformer that went out. The 2 1/2 hrs I had heat sure was nice..........

That is a very good point. I work with one supplier for my HVAC needs out of 6 possibilities. I stick with this company because they are serious about their product line. They have a great stock of equipment and the parts to repair it. They also have a large distribution center with next day shipment.

This way I do not have to go through the manufacturer and have a customer without heat for several days to weeks. Some guys would freak if their classic was without heat or a/c for a day!

Pay a hundred bucks more if you can be sure to get great support locally. It can be worth it!

Personally I like the Reznor UDAS for garage situations. It has seperated combustion for added safety.
