Hi all,

I am replacing my Schwank radiant tube heater with a Modine Hot Dawg HD-75. I have raised the ceilings in the garage 3' and would like to use the same horizontal vent. I am hoping to mount the Modine up higher while avoiding drilling another 4" hole through the brick exterior of my garage. The manual says that the heater is to be installed horizontally. Is there any concern with mounting it vertically so that the exhaust goes straight out the wall and the heater is up higher? Or is it okay to vent it down a foot or so and then out the wall? This is a power vent model.

Thanks!

Read your instructions. I am sure it can be vented vertically, but that means coming straight out the back a short distance, then up.

You can not vent down.

Thanks! Maybe I wasn’t clear. I’m hoping to mount the heater in the vertical position I have it in that photo. Normally its supposed to be on its side (horizontal).

Mount it as specified by manufacture. Use category III stainless vent pipe for horizontal termination
