I have a 75k hot dawg propane heater and it seems that the gas valve is leaking or not closing all the way. Anyone else have a problem with them?

Was running the heater yesterday and after it shut off i started smelling propane. Shut the gas off going to the heater and checked all the connections in the pipe and found nothing leaking. The strongest smell is coming from the gas valve. I've been using the heater for a few years without a problem.

If your "smelling" strong odor your tanks below 20% and the "odorant" in the propane gets very strong like a dead mouse smells.

If you suspect a leak you need to use a bubbling solution to locate the leak in your pipe, and repipe dope/repair the leak. Have been reading other posts and if you guy's out there are not licensed and properly trained to work on gas heating equipment, call your propane company and get someone who does. This is not something to get knowledge or lack of, to do it yourself!!

Equipment that is "old" and or new and you got an odor you need to address it asap. When you get your propane bill it tells you what to do when you smell propane!

These are our beloved garages, they go up in flames real quick, Please do not mess around:thumbup:

ditto, and propane is more dangerous than Natural Gas as it has higher energy density and it is heavier than air. So it pools in low points and can accumulate until a spark ignites it.

When there is smoke there is fire...

In your case where there is smell there could be fire.

Don't mess around, for peace of mind get this checked out.

I know this is a very old thread but, what was the resolution here? Mine is doing the same thing, had the gas valve replaced checked all the connections. Only smells like gas when it shuts off. I noticed the power vent shuts off with the flames, should that stay on for a couple seconds to clear the remaining gas?
