Hot dawg question

what's the difference between the hot dawg and the hot dawg S. HD OR HDS.

The "S" stands for Separated combustion. The HDS models bring in outside air for combustion (like 90+ home furnaces), while the HD models use indoor air for combustion. Siginificant price difference, as you may have noticed.

Thanks, I didn't know that was another consideration I had to deal with. Apparently most people go with the cheaper unit, like I will, unless somebody has a convincing arguement to the contrary. Any takers?

Using outside combustion air is usuallly more effecient. Otherwise, it would be a good idea if the inside combustion air is potentially volotile with vapors or dust, etc. I do alot of woodworking in my shop, and even with dust collection have some airborne dust. Nonetheless, I went with the standard HD and have had no problems.

I would really consider using the S model if it were actually going to keep the place heated better and more efficiently. Price looks to be about twice as much as a regular hot dawg though. I would expect to recoup the difference in a couple seasons in heat savings. I do strickly woodworking and make it a point to keep anything flammable out in the shed so I'm not concerned with a volotile envirnment. Would anyone who has purchased a HDS unit please give me some feedback about their experience with this model. Also I want to exhaust vent it horizontally and was curious about how the intake vent would be installed?
