Howdy all~

Decided against central heat/ac due to the comments here about Dawgs and after finding out I don't need ducting for a 28x28 shop. I can always hook-up a split-air type system for A/C ig I need it.

I'm trying to decide between a Dawg 60 and a Max 75. The Max doesn't come in a 60, and I need bigger than a 40 with all my doors and windows.

Northern has a NatGas Max 75 for 399 and Greenhouse wants 538 for a Dawg 60. Max is $139.00 less and delivers 15,000 mor BTU's.

Can anyone see much of a difference between the two other than price? Noise about the same?

Last but not least, I'm kind of **** about how things look. Can the front panel be taken off the Dawg and reversed or can I possibly paint over the logo?

Thanks!

Scott

PS,
Oops, I forgot to ask one other thing!

My new shop has a stairway (42" wide) that leads up to the gameroom. The stairs run up one wall approx 36" to a 42x42 landing 48" off the floor then turn up the other wall to get to the top. The treads, stringers and handrail are all open.

Is there any reason why a heater couldn't be mounted to the underside of the landing? No venting or supply issues and I'd be glad to drywall it if needed!

Thanks!

The Hot Dawg needs to be ducted through an exterior wall or the roof out of the garage, regardless of the size of your shop.

I compared the two before I bought the Max 75. For all intents and purposes, they are identicle. Both are the same design, made of the same material and have the same warranty. As far as noise, the Max 75 has a slighly more powerful fan and moves a little more air so there may be more fan noise but I doubt if it would be noticable. The money you save with the Max 75 will pay for your vent system and more.

Roadster, both walls that the stairs are mounted to are exterior walls. I just didn't know if I could have the vent terminate 4 feet above the ground or if I have to elbow it up to 8'+, and I was concerned about safety with the unit installed 4' off the floor, even if it's partially enclosed and covered.

Krooser,

The Max heater is mfg by Mr. Heater (Enerco) per Fireman. I posted a link above to the unit.

Thanks guys!

The label on the front panel is just a sticker. You can replace it or simply cover it with whatever you like.

Thanks for the info, guys!

Called Northern and ordered up a 75K Mr. Heater Max unit for $450.00 delivered. From what other posters have mentioned, I'll get my thermostat and vent pipe, etc from HomerDespot.

I'm going to run the elec for the unit this weekend. I figger 15A single pole with 14-2 should be plenty?

Thanks!
