Hot Deal or *** (Another Sketchy Seller)?

So this ebay store seems to have a bunch of discounted industrial tools.

How does one verify if this is legit operation/ seller?

:dunno:

The only feed back they have is for selling multi packs weight loss tea????? That's a big red flag
and a 95.8% pos feedback is bad atleast in my exp. Sry I don't buy it.

very rarely will I buy anything from anyone without a 99 or 100% pos feedback rating

I will say that if you try purchasing something and do get screwed over you will most likely be protected by eBay and PayPal...

i believe that the negative feedback in spanish language pretty much translates to an unhappy buyer asking where the order is that hasn't arrived to buyer. that or 'the dog has been behaving very badly today.' i'd go with the first translation, but you never know.

i'd pass.

update:As the world turns...

This seller is currently away until Mar 31, 2017, and is not processing orders at this time. You can add this item to your watch list to purchase later.

Maybe he just took a 'vacation' after all of the hard work listing 5,000 items...or maybe this page got flagged by e-bay...

Forgive me I do not know enough about E-bay, I can make a few guesses about how someone gets a bad rating like not shipping on time, not shipping at all, not as described, etc. what are some other ways to look for a bad seller ?

Any feedback under 98% I pass. No matter what it is. Unless they have like 10,000 sales, then I may take a chance. It's key to check the sellers feedback and rating.

Selling things they don't have in inventory, knowing it will take a while to get.
Poor packaging with the item arriving broken.
Using phrases such as "proto type" in descriptions of some cheapo brand X ratchets.
Taking a dozen photos of a toy train, from every angle, and "manage" to crop the damaged parts out of the photo.
Playing dumb with their claimed knowledge, and rave about how clean their toy locomotive is, and it's excellent condition. I e-mailed one such seller, and asked if He had the rest of the wheels and axles for His nice, complete train.

the prices on the PROTO impact and wrench set are far from being a hot deal. You'd get better pricing from a sale at zoro, MSC, or trident supply.

That ebay member has used four different seller names since 2014.

:wtf:

^ ^ ^ ^ Wow, that's a screaming red flag.

+1 that it's not worth the chance.

Same goes for super cheap RAM sticks that ship straight from Hong Kong or China. :eyecrazy:

Just bumping this, as I found some more infor on this potential type of scam.

Apparently there are now scammers who are able to copy large numbers of listings from legitimate sellers/storefrontes...that is how these guys get all of the listings in the 1,000s...and they they hijack the listings and seel from other accounts...

One needs to look out for this kind of scam now I guess on ebay/amazon as well. Here is some discussion that came up in another thread.

https://sellercentral.amazon.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=341229&tstart=0

This is my first time seeing this in the wild, and I was suprised the scammers were able to get all the listing info correct and detailed...that is usually a barrier to entry that helps separate out legitimate shops from the scammers trying to move alot of money selling 1x sku with a big stock and expensive usits (like 10-20x of a $2-500 item).
