I have several planks for my scaffolding that need re galvanising. Many are covered with surface rust. I want to send them to Townsville (the nearest place that does it to me), and get them re galvanised. I believe they dip them in acid first before the gal process. Does this remove the surface rust? Do they need other treatment?
Because the place that does this is over 4 hours away from me, not easy to see what needs to be done.

Cheers,

Ken

They will handle all the prep. There are several dips go clean the items first. It will take off all the mill scale and etc
To get it down to a ready to coat finish. Ask for a G200 coating thickness. 2.0 oz per SF of surface. Good for 90 years weather exposure

Try to think of anything else that could benefit from galvanizing and get it ready to go at the same time. Grill parts, swing set railing etc. Won't add much to the cost as you are taking off to go anyway..
