So we are moving into another house in a couple weeks. Living here in the Phoenix area with summer temps well above 100 for 3 months, the garage gets somewhat hot. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to keep the temps down so I can actually be in the garage during the summer?

We are also renting the house so I really don't want to fork out too much of my own money either.

Window AC will make it really comfortable inside but it'll really jump your electric bill especially if you open the garage door while it's on. Be really sure you're willing to spend the extra bucks ($100-$200+) every month before you decide to go this route.

Fans are good but worthless here by themselves in the summer.

A Port-A-Cool would be great for all but a few months outta the year. I have an old Tradewinds fiberglass cooler on a rolling stand and I wouldn't be without it. An extra added benefit is if your AC goes out, you have a backup system you can move around and use 'til it's fixed.

There's a guy at the swapmeet on Baseline that sells a white, electronically controlled plastic swamp cooler you might wanna check out. He used to sell the Port-A-Cools but now this is all he carries (he sells other stuff too so don't go lookin' for someone just sellin' coolers). Whenever I go by, his cooler's blowin' cooler than all the others

Lemme know what you go with and how it works out.....
